As the Cannon County Lionettes prepare to battle in the 2012 4-AA Regional Tournmant this weekend, it is worth noting that girls basketball has been a fan favorite in Cannon County for decades. Shown in this photo is the 1930 Woodbury High School girls teams. 

Left to right, Lavada Mathis (E.H.) Underwood, Carmine Hayes Perry, Wauvie Lou McCaslin, Hazle Allmon Smith, Francis Bratten (Hoyte) Bryson, Mary Adams Greer, Obera Moore Robinson, Hesta Pitts Tenpenny, Katherine Smith Cabrera.

Seated left to right, Eva Mae Atwood, James Campbell, Robert Abernathy.

Mrs. Lavada Mathis Underwood, 98, is still living.

I love looking at old pictures like this! I really enjoy when you all print these in the Courier. I was looking at the shoes the players are wearing in this picture and thinking about the high-dollar shoes they wear now. Wow-what a difference! Please keep printing the old pictures in the paper so we can enjoy a blast from the past! Thanks!
