Thomas Melton of "Anything Amish" rings up fresh squash, canned strawberry preserves and peanut brittle candy for Sara Drue Nichols of Canyon, Texas. Opening in May of this year, the store is located on the new McMinnville Highway US 70 and provides an outlet for products and merchandise by 22 local Amish families. A log cabin was re-located from Auburntown to the business site. Built around 1840, it was previously the home of Phillip and Minnie Barrett and rested on lands currently owned by the McAllister family on Hwy. 145. Open six days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Melton says business is so good it takes two store keepers to assist customers. Same store hours will continue through November to provide sale of fall vegetables and pumpkins. Melton is wearing an Amish style hat sold in the log cabin store. (Photo by Donna Nichols)
