Newest Family Births at the 2017 Nichols Family Reunion: Barbara Nichols Parker holds grandson, 7-month-old Mathew Lee Parker. Willow Rose Morris is held by her mother, Heather Morris.
On a hot July day, Nichols family and friends gathered for their 2017 family reunion with warm hearts and happy smiles. The event held July 22nd was hosted by Grady and Barbara Parker at The Corner on Doolittle Road. 75 descendants of Daniel Alexander Nichols and Sarah M. Vinson Nichols, shared a bountiful meal of fresh garden vegetables, meats, casseroles and desserts.
A table full of homemade cakes, pies, and cookies satisfied everyone's sweet tooth. Home grown blueberries baked in a pie was still warm from the oven and a fresh strawberry punch bowl cake caused taste buds to tingle with delight.

Nichols ancestors Daniel and Sarah M. Vinson Nichols lived most of their married lives on Doolittle and raised eight children near the location of the 2017 reunion. The Nichols family has migrated all over America but many remain in Cannon County. The oldest male in attendance was 90-year-old Ray Nichols. Oldest female present was 92-year-old Ailene Nichols.

At ringing of the dinner bell, Mathew Lee Parker, son of Ashley Parker and grandson of Grady and Barbara Parker was the youngest male present. Youngest female honors went to McKenna Reed, friend of Zoe Nichols. Persons traveling the longest distance of 100 miles were Danny and Claudia Nichols of Giles County. Arriving after the awards were given out, was 5-month-old Willow Rose Morris, daughter of Jason and Heather Morris and granddaughter of Keith Morris.

Since the 2016 Nichols Family Reunion, several deaths were identified as follows: Ralph Davenport, brother of Mary Francis McFerrin; Kathy Love Anderson, wife of Eugene Anderson; Mike Duggin; Sara H. Gaither, mother of Donna Nichols; Elmus Tenpenny; Thomas Brown Mullinax; Marion Foster Vance; Jarrell Davenport; Jerry Vance; Jenny Mae Morris Rose and Jr. Morris.

Saturday's Nichols Family Reunion was a celebration of life and family heritage. The 2018 Nichols Family Reunion is scheduled for July 28th the 4th Saturday in July at The Corner in Woodbury, Tennessee.
