MR. AND MRS. BRIAN KIDWELL

October 31, 2011 was not just the day my husband I joined hands together in marital matrimony. It was an important day to all Pagans.

The newspaper showed up unexpectedly and yes I agreed to tell the truth about my religion. My husband I are Pagans and we are proud. Brian is a High Priest ordained by our church. I am a High Priestess also ordained by our church. He has been a Pagan since the age of seven years old and myself since the ending of the 90's.

To se the record straight first and foremost, we "Pagans" are all around. We are doctors, lawyers, janitors, waitresses, school teachers, clerks, etc. We war our Pentagram not to offend or to put fear in anyone. It is our religious symbol just a cross is a religious symbol to a Christian. It is a sign which represents the elements of nature. Each point or tip represents fire, water, earth, air and spirit. That is why we wear it.

We are firm believers to "harm none." We don't judge a person for any reason and simply ask for the same respect. We are friendly, courteous and polite. We don't preach our religion or even talk about it unless asked. Not because we are ashamed, but simply out of respect for others.

I realized recently that even here locally there are more Pagans than even we realized. If enough Pagans come forward, we are even considering joining together in opening our covenant; in other words, church.

As of this weekend we have rented a booth at the flea market right here in Woodbury. Our booth number is 306. As of next weekend we will be carrying new age items, Pagan items, etc. As ordained High Priest and High Priestess we can offer services such as healing rituals, handfastings, etc. We are currently in the process of filing for Notary of Republic Services so all documents can be notarized by us as well. We encourage and welcome everyone and anyone to drop by even to say "Hi" or Merry Meet.

Yours Truly,

Witch & Wizard of Woodbury

Love & Light

Blessed Be )0(

What a boost to tourism in the county this could be.

A re-enactment of that wedding at the gazebo to hordes of people coming in on tour buses to see the wedding that put the county on the map. Perhaps the 4,200 sq. ft. space available on the square could be rented by this famous couple. T-shirts with the picture of the devoted couple along with hundreds of pagan wares for sale (the lucky couple could set aside a portion of the store featuring baskets, chairs and other local products.) Inclement weather would bring on a re-enactment of the wedding inside the store.

While still on the square, the tour guide could give all the story of the infamous burning of the courthouse and the rumors that still float around about who did and why, and what happened to the two that actually lit the fires. Still on the square, a re-enactment could be featured of the noted love triangle shooting at the Yellow Jacket, something like the shoot out at the OK Corral.

Then off into the county for a tour of the Short Mountain Distillery (miniature sample bottles for all) along with visits to the two rock quarries running at full tilt with hunreds of trucks going in and out and the three (at least that many known) that no longer operate but have left gaping holes in the mountain sides.

Back to Joe’s Place for country ham, redeye grave, biscuit, greens, pinto beans, cornbread and their famous pies.

I am sure some readers can add other featured events, perhaps the hanging on the square?

Look forward to being on that first bus.

A Merry Christmas to the newlyweds.

Courier: New format much improvement over the old. Well done!

MMW, not quite sure if I am reading your comment correctly, but I seem to sense a tone of bigotry. You would not be someone who would ridicule or belittle people for their beliefs, would you?
November 16, 2011 at 8:22am
Don't be provocative, Kevin...

As the editor you should just leave the story to it's own merit....

MMW? A very nice letter and I would be on the bus sitting next to you. Your version of events sounds productive and fun.

LOL

Relax people!
November 16, 2011 at 10:11am
No sir, Kevin. I wish them well in their new venture as I do all who enter into that agreement, regardless of gender or religious beliefs.
Nevertheless, shrines have been erected for a great many events. Millions have visited places where miracles have alleged to taken place. Even Elvis' home attracts thousands of vistors.
It is not every day that a wedding like this takes place in this county and perhaps the doctors, lawyers, janitors, waitresses, school teachers, clerks, etc mentioned in the article, along with others of different faiths, would like to pay homage to the place where a unique event happened, and that in Cannon County. How many other counties around here can tout such a happening.

Best wishes to the newlyweds again. Seriously!

First I would like to say thank you to the editor for posting...you did a awesome job ..minus the spell check lol.

To MMW...thank you for the best wishes...not really understanding where you were going with the post???? But everyone has their own opinions...

KevinHalpern...Thank you for your comment...that is exactly why we came forward with the truth...no need to lie or be ashamed of our beliefs or our religion. Thank you again.

JeffSchuler.....Religions are not meant to be a source of entertainment...seriously this is our "WEDDING DAY" we are talking about! For people to leave such comments on a couples wedding day ...I don't think you would take it kindly as people posting posts of this nature as a joke on your wedding day....seriously it is not a "JOKE".

To Everyone....Our purpose is to educate that movies, Hollywood and TV shows is a far cry from what Paganism is. Love & Light Always... Blessed Be, From the Witch & Wizard of Woodbury )0(

Kevin I tend to agree with you on this one, although "bigotry" is not the word that comes to mind when I read MMW's comments.

Sarcasm and lecture would be better words in my opinion.

WitchofWoodbury it is understandable that you really did not understand where MMW was going with his post, not many people besides himself ever understand his comments.

I hope you are happy in your new marriage!

Congratulations to the Kidwells! Blessed Be from Mississippi! :)
November 17, 2011 at 7:08am
Corey ....Thank You very much....I appreciate the post as we noticed MMW babbles on in many directions and still does not come to a point.

As far as Marmel he probably doesn't understand what he posted...He put Bible Reader but it seems that is all he does because he does not follow what he reads. Did you ever hear the term "Practice What You Preach" I don't think Marmel has!

"FREEDOM OF RELIGION...MEANS ALL RELIGIONS!! AND YES PAGANISM IS ACKNOWLEDGED AS A RELIGION AS CHRISTIANITY ...BAPTIST..SO ON SO FOURTH"!

SOG...Thank you for your kind words...Thank you for coming forward..always nice to have Pagans come fourth...Love & Light Blessed Be )0(

As for us we will continue to answer any comments of any one or answer questions as they are asked....Love & Light to EVERYONE!

In no way did my comments about my first posting form a "JOKE"...

You have misinterpreted my statement.

That you might think I was being offensive - well I do so apologize. It was my intent to diffuse the sarcastic comment prior to my own.

I am confused by the response.

I fully support your wedding and future....
November 17, 2011 at 9:15am
I wonder if the local officials that witnessed this blessed event would answer a few questions that might shed some light on this pagan ceremony.

Was this a handfasting ceremony where the groom’s right hand is tied by ribbon or cord to the bride’s left hand?
Was there a severing ritual at the end?
Did the bride and groom jump over the broomstick when pronounced as wed?
Was a veil or netting over the bride’s face (doesn't show in photo)?
Did she have something scarlet on (doesn't show in photo)?
Since a true pagan wedding must be conduct by a priest or priestess, was the Mayor qualified to wed the two?
Was the sacred site marked out prior to the ceremony, perhaps with a circle?
Did the Mayor honor the elements and call upon the gods and goddesses to bless the couple?
Was the oath, written in conjunction with the priest doing the marrying, read before the ceremony?

Naturally being a true Celtic wedding, some if not all of these rituals would have been conducted and would make another interesating article to feature in the Courier.

Would have been exciting to see that broomstick jump. If only someone had filmed, this would have gone viral immediately and instantly put Woodbury on the map.

What did Patrick Henry say about the meeting in the summer of 1787?

My point proven! Sarcasm and lecturing just to hear himself talk.

Next he will be writing about how he voted for Ike in 1956 and quoting an obscure reference that he spent hours searching for on the internet.

He did the same thing when he wrote comments under the pen name dailyreader and it is not any different under the pen name MMW.

Babble on MMW a.k.a. dailyreader. It makes you more and more transparent every post you make!

redeemed who says they worship anything
just because they are not Christian it don't mean that there not human like you and me!
if they want to be witch and wizard let them be its there choice but unless you are god himself do not worry about them they are harmless and i thought your god loved everyone not just christians
November 18, 2011 at 5:22am
WitchofWoodbury, glad you took in the manner which it was intended, a delightful farce played around a delightful wedding.

By the way, I knew a man in the thirties and forties that would come down around the courthouse and remove warts. He could have been a Wizard. Does your husband do that?

For sure, there was an old Irishman here in the county that practiced witchcraft and lived in a hollow tree. He must have been a Wizard. And then there is the Wizard of Oz and the Wizard of Westwood.

Hard to tell about those Witches. I once knew a young lady some sixty years ago that was about as bewitching a woman that I could ever hope for. I never knew whether she was a real witch or not but, oh my, the things she could do. And then I watched The Good Witch on Hallmark once and saw that terrible witch in the Wizard of Oz.

Halloween, Halloween, oh what funny sights or seen...
Well that Old Black Magic has me in its spell---its off to the Boro and the Avenue to eat at the shop where all the witches and wizards gather---believe it is call the WhichWich.

And we will be watching for the renewal of vows a year from now-same place.

Wish you both the best.

>>redeemed who says they worship anything
Apparently you didn't read the actual article. You can read?

>>just because they are not Christian it don't mean that there not human like you and me!

When did I say or even imply anything of the sort? Maybe they put a spell on you since you're seeing things that aren't there. :)

>>if they want to be witch and wizard let them be its there choice but unless you are god himself do not worry about them they are harmless

I was not attacking the happy couple nor condemning them, just reacting to the witch's ridiculous assertion that: "Without paganism your Bible would not have existed"

>>and i thought your god loved everyone not just christians

This is the only accurate thing that you wrote and seemingly the only thing you actually know about Christianity. I'll fill you in with the rest: God loves YOU (and all the witches and wizards of the world) so much that He sent His only son to die to pay the penalty for all the sin that we've done. Trust in Him and He will save you from Hell so you can be with Him forever in Heaven.

Paganism is the oldest religion and that what was meant with those words Redeemed....

Fact is we believe in Gods & Goddesses and yes we are people just like everyone else... I wear my pentagram as a Christian wears their cross not only does the tips of the star represent ...earth..fire...water...air and spirit but the circle is a circle of protection....HollyWood has fabricated many religions not just ours...

I think the whole thing is a big joke!! LOL I can't believe all you people even argue with such. I guess it was Drama for Halloween in Cannon county :)
November 27, 2011 at 9:24am
Exactly what are you calling a JOKE junebug18 ....is it my being a pagan...and no its narrow minded people that cause drama....because I am one of many pagans that are in the county but I choose to speak up because others are afraid of the cross....afraid of being downed for our religion....try watching the video's before you judge...then comment!!!!
November 27, 2011 at 10:06am
>> your bible has been rewritten many times since christianity became a religion

Wrong. There is more archeological and manuscript evidence for the Bible than any other document in history: http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/bibleorigin.html

>> history has provin that christianity tried to burn out all other religions so with that said im not trying to attack anyone

No, you're not trying to attack anyone. You're being fair and even-handed - NOT! This particular statement is the height of hypocrisy and stupidity since Christians are the most persecuted people group on the planet: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/report-most-persecuted-religion-is-christianity-200-million-suffering/
November 28, 2011 at 7:25am
First of all have you seen documents by scientist on youtube from the History Channel themselves called "Banned From The Bible" ....Proven Facts Scientifically that they have!

Point is everyone has the right....just because you believe in one god doesn't make anyone better than me....

I Believe in Gods & Goddesses and what is wrong with that....

Truth of the matter is Hollywood has turned our religion into something bad....they have done it to many things.
November 29, 2011 at 8:16am
look Redeemed do you have any proof that what your saying is true and i mean proof as in were you there when when your lord was pined to the cross did you wright the scrolls because if you didn't then you really need to learn more about history and as for your last post your wrong about everything your saying so do some real research buddy in stead of looking it up online
November 29, 2011 at 8:06pm
>>look Redeemed do you have any proof that what your saying is true

No, I don't have absolute proof. It requires a measure of faith. As the Bible says: "Without faith it is impossible to please God." -Hebrews 11:6

However, this faith we have is not some blind leap in the dark. It is based on a mountain of evidence and logic.

Why would all the apostles (except one - John) willingly die for something they know is a lie?

Why did a non-Christian historian (Josephus) write about Jesus and the early Christian's belief in the resurrection if they believed something different?

Why are there hundreds of archeological finds which corroborate details given in the scriptures if it was fantasy or changed over the years?

How do you explain the hundreds of specific fulfilled prophecies given in the Bible (Christ fulfilled hundreds alone)?

Maybe YOU need to do a little more research because you haven't given one single specific shred of evidence other than vague rants on why you think Christianity is phony.

Come on. Let me know your real issue. And this time, be specific.
November 30, 2011 at 7:58pm
redeemed can you prove it with evidence and i never said that Christianity is phony if you weren't paying attention my point was that not everything you read or hear is the truth so people my point is stop fighting over religion and come together as human beings look past your faith and stop being simple minded this story was about two people getting marred and some how religion always plays a major factor if i want to argue with someone about religion redeemed i would argue with a fence post because they can debate better then you can so like i said prove it to me and i will beleave you other wise drop the subject im not interested in talking to simple minded people hope you have a good day
November 30, 2011 at 8:09pm
First of all....Everyone is entitled to their own belief in religion....whether it be Christianity....Paganism...Atheist...Buddha ...Hindu.. Islamic... Or Any Other Religion Out there. I have no problem with your beliefs why have one with mine???
I don't force my belief upon anyone... Why should anyone else push their belief on anyone...

what you posted was a joke you need to learn that just like with your religion you have a pope i think or are you and him not on the same side
December 01, 2011 at 11:07am
I was kind enough to listen to your post of all 5 video's....To attack paganism by posting a video from obviously a bunch of hallucinating druggies about god and satan coming down from a UFO....REALLY...If you ask me the guy needed to be checked for paranoid schizophrenic and even institutionalized ....Seriously UFO's ....doesn't that go against Christianity????? Pagan's don't believe in your so called Satan anyway's ...this guy was in a private occult which was misinformed of what witchcraft is...this is HOLLYWOOD WITCHCRAFT and also reminds of me of someone drugging kids to keep them in an occult of their own....Nothing more nothing less..Just someone looking to over power kids and take over their minds....this video is not only insulting to pagans but goes against Christianity beliefs as well. So exactly what religion are YOU?????
