Mrs. Pitts was a wonderful teacher and lady. She tolerated no shenanigans in her classroom. I never turned to talk to the student behind or beside me. We were there to learn, not socialize. She expected us to learn the material and gave extra help to those of us who often needed the help. I wasn't really afraid of her. I did, however, respect her rules and her high expectations for her students. I learned in her class! ( Algebra, Spanish, Geometry, solid Geometry, English, and trigonometry ) Years later when I was also a teacher, I discovered that she had a grand sense of humor. She knew her subjects well and expected no less from her students. I was indeed fortunate to have her as a teacher.
