Bette Lines, age 65 passed away Sunday January 17, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Nashville after a lengthy illness. Her inital fight began in 1967 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease. She took radiation to stop the cancer, but it put her in a category of cancer survivor with "unknown long range effects of radiation."

Bette was born June 15, 1950 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was one of Dr. William Bryant's first deliveries as Cannon County's new doctor.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jonathan W. Lines of Woodbury and son, Sean E. Lines of Brentwood. She is also survived by sister, Janet D. (Harry) Barnes of Woodbury "the girls" (nieces), Cynthia B. (Jeremy) Judkins, Valerie B.(Michael) Bush, and Stephanie B. (Justin) Fann, beloved great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, especially John N. New.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall E. and Wauline A. Duggin, paternal grandparents, S.L. and Eppie N. Duggin and maternal grandparents, C.H. and Hattie B. Allmon.

Bette began a thirty year teaching career in Cannon County and retired with the Warren County School System. She touched many young lives during her time in the classroom.

She loved the beach and spent hours looking for that perfect shell on Sanibel Island. She was an excellent tatter and enjoyed reading, bird watching, and gardening.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be held at Leoni Church of Christ on Sunday January 24, 2016 at 3:00 pm. Bros. Herb Alsup and Garland Robinson will be officiating.
