EVENT DETAILS

TheHometown Heroes Walk for Children will be heldat the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza located at 111 West Vine Street, Murfreesboro, 37130. Registration will start at 10:45 a.m., speakers at 11:30 a.m., and the walk will begin at 12:00 noon. Complimentary shuttles provided by Patterson Park Community Center will run from the Child Advocacy Center, located at 1040 Samsonite Blvd. Murfreesboro, to the event kick-off from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

COST TO PARTICIPATE

It is FREE to participate in the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children and event t-shirts are available for purchase at a cost of $15 each while they last!

PICNIC LUNCH

The event will conclude with a FREE boxed picnic lunch at the Child Advocacy Center, located at 1040 Samsonite Blvd., Murfreesboro. Lunch will be provided by KFT Barbeque, Junior League of Murfreesboro, and bottle water from Lori Yates Realty and Dana Womack State Farm Insurance. Please re-register for the event by Wednesday, April 27 to guarantee you have a boxed lunch!

AWARDS

The Hometown Heroes Awards will be presented to individuals who have dedicated their career to making our community a safer place for children.

The Golden Sneakers Award will be presented to the organization that brings the most walkers to the event.

  • Gold ($2,500)
  • Silver ($1,000)
  • Bronze ($500)
  • Friends of the CAC ($250)

CANNON COUNTY CONTRIBUTIONS

All donations from Cannon County support the Cannon County Child Advocacy Center and all donations from Rutherford County support the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County.

CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER

For the last 22 years, the Child Advocacy Center has worked as a team with the Department of Children's Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney's Office to investigate and prosecute child abuse cases and help children and families heal from the trauma. Last year 1,743 children and families were helped.

WHAT IS NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH?

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is the 7th year that the Child Advocacy Center has celebrated by hosting the Hometown Heroes Walk for Children. President Ronald Reagan first proclaimed April to be the National Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1983, a tradition that continues to this day.
