The District 6-AA basketball tournament is set for February 18th, 19th, 21st and 22nd. Today, the coaches of the four schools which comprise the district got together to fill in the brackets and make everything official.
On the girls side, the Westmoreland Lady Eagles who finished 6-0 in the standings are the #1 seed. They will open the tournament hosted by Watertown. The Lady Purple Tigers are the 4th seed finishing with an 0-6 record. Tipoff is at 6:00p
The 7:30 game at Watertown will pit Smith County, the #2 seed against the Cannon County Lionettes the #3 seed. Smith County finished 4-2 with the only two losses to Westmoreland, while Cannon County beat Watertown twice for their only wins in district play going 2-4 in the standings.
Cannon was swept by Smith County 57-49 at home and almost pulled off a road upset leading the game until the final minutes in a 44-39 fashion.
Consolation game will be played Monday at 6:30 with the Championship game Monday at 7:30.

The boys bracket has the undefeated Smith County Owls at 6-0 opening against #4 seed Westmoreland Saturday night at 6:00 in Watertown. The Eagles, 1-4, finished the regular season tied with Watertown, 1-4, for 3rd place as a result of an Eagles win at home against the Purple Tigers. A coin toss was conducted in which Watertown won.
Watertown will face the #2 seed Cannon County in the second game of the boys division. Cannon finished 4-2 in district play and swept Watertown 80-57, and 59-46 this season. Tipoff at Watertown High School is slated for 7:30.

While tickets are available at the door, the coaches and officials encourage those who plan to attend the tournament to purchase their tickets online to speed up the process of getting people in the doors and seated. The link to purchase tickets is:

Cannon Courier News and Events Facebook page will have the live game coverage of both Cannon County Lions and Lionettes starting Friday night at Watertown High School.
