A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Cannon County from Thursday night through Saturday evening.

Another storm system will bring waves of heavy rain across Middle Tennessee starting tonight and continuing through Saturday night.

An additional 2-4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts are expected through Saturday night. Due to the recent excessive rain, soils are saturated and area rivers and creeks are full.

Additional heavy rainfall will quickly cause flash flooding.

Street flooding will be a hazard for travelers. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as creeks and streams.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Thursday
A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night
Showers likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 44. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 55. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Friday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 52. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 3pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 3pm. High near 68. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday Night
Showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 9pm and midnight. Low around 47. South wind around 15 mph becoming west southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Sunday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 31. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming north northeast after midnight.
