MTSU announces hours for Memorial Day

 Middle Tennessee State University will be closed Monday, May 25, for the 2026 Memorial Day holiday. All offices will be closed and no summer term classes will be held. 

The university will reopen and classes will resume Tuesday, May 26. 

Memorial Day is a federal holiday honoring and mourning U.S. military personnel who died in the line of duty in service to their country and is observed annually on the last Monday of May. 

During the holiday weekend, the James E. Walker Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 23, and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 24, but closed on Monday. The library will reopen at its regular hours Tuesday, May 26, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Campus Recreation Center facilities will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, open from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday and closed Monday. The campus rec office will be closed Saturday through Monday.

The Student Union will be closed May 23-25, as will MTSU Phillips Bookstore, which is located inside the Student Union.

Throughout the Memorial Day holiday weekend Saturday-Monday, May 23-25, the general public is invited to visit the MTSU Veterans Memorial, located at 628 Alma Mater Drive on the south side of the Tom H. Jackson Building. The site includes a granite and brick memorial listing the names of fallen military alumni as well as other MTSU-affiliated fallen soldiers, alumni veterans and military-connected organizations and supporters.

After the holiday weekend, the next New to Blue orientation for incoming first-year students and transfer students will be held on Wednesday, May 27. It will be for students in the College of Basic and Applied SciencesCollege of Behavior and Health SciencesCollege of Media and Entertainment and University College.
