James Vickers, 240 Hawkins Hill Rd., Woodbury, was charged with Cruelty to Animals on Nov. 27 by Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Smith.

The deputy responded to the address of the accused after being dispatched there following a complaint to Cannon County Dispatch stating horses and dogs there were malnourished.

Deputy Smith observed a horse was down in a closed barn, in mud, unable to get up, apparently underfed, and sickly and thin.

A release citation was issued. Initial court date is Jan. 3.
