My name is Nolan Travis and I would like to take this opportunity to ask the voters of Cannon County to give me your consideration and on August 5th to honor me with your vote of confidence to serve as your Trustee.

I have been happily married to Treva Duke Travis for 30 years. Treva and I are extremely proud of our two children: Andrew 24 and Carrie 22. I have been truly blessed by my family. My parents were the late Ralph and Faye Travis and Treva’s parents are the late Orville and Kathleen Duke.

After graduating from The University of Memphis in 1983 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, I started a business involved in the promotion and sales of hunting and sporting goods. Because of our young children, I stopped traveling and focused my career in property management and construction as a licensed general contractor. In 2000, I purchased my family’s farm that I currently operate.

Being a person who is constantly seeking ways to make things run smoother and better, I have many ideas to improve the office of Trustee. Some of the ideas I am investigating are: 1) Alternate methods of payment such as: online, bank drafts, credit cards, and debit cards. 2) Discounts on early payments. 3) A form of billing allowing for privacy. 4) A personal computer for office management and communications. 5) Computerized accounting system (I have over 27 years computer experience). The standard for any new practice or procedure that is implemented will be that it must benefit all taxpayers and the benefits must outweigh the cost or result in a net savings. So, in short, it must benefit you, the taxpayer.

My education in business, combined with my experience as a resourceful and effective manager, qualified me to do this important job. I would not be in this race if I were not positive that I am the best candidate to serve as your Trustee.

If honored with the office of Trustee, my goals would be: make the burden of paying taxes as convenient and pleasant as possible, treat everyone fair and equal, keep everyone totally informed with the county’s finances, operate within budget while seeking ways to save taxpayers money. And last but not least, I would hold the office with the highest level of morals and ethics while performing at a level above and beyond the letter of the law.

If you have a question, request or suggestion, please contact me at Travisfortrustee@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration and on August 5th, please vote Nolan Travis for trustee.
