Well folks, there is NO lamb in March's weather this year; definitely a Lion blowing in! Wonder where our groundhog is now? We all keep hoping for warmer weather so we can open up our Short Mountain Trading Post but so far no such luck. All predictions were certainly true for a wicked winter this year! Just make the best of it, even tho spring break starts soon. How many are heading to Florida for that one!

My husband, JD, totally enjoys his few early morning relaxing moments out on our back deck surrounded by trees. He shared the cutest event with me yesterday. Two tiny baby chipmunks were scampering around in the leaves. They were so lightweight that they didn't even bend the leaves and more or less floated on top. Above them in a neighboring tree was a baby grey squirrel watching them. When the chipmunks moved, he moved around the tree. That went on for a few more tested minutes, and before JD knew it , all three were scampering around on the ground having a grand playtime together. How cute is that!

This snowy weather has also brought some humor into our lives. I happen to see a large snowman along the road hitchhiking to, from what it's sign said, Jamaica. Funny. Up North, the neighbors are having snowblower fights; forget the snowballs. Around here, we had more snowballs made heavily of ice. Don't throw those. Trust me they hurt!

Crazy Uncle Festus shot his first 'turkey' this week. He totally scared everyone to death in the frozen food department! I think he has probably lost his Kroger membership at this point.

Cousin Clyde wants me to contact all those Star Trek fans out there and take a silent moment to say good bye to Leonard Nimoy, who played the ever popular Dr. Spock on the Trek series. Clyde is quite a fan and sends the vulcan hand signal to all those who joins his honoring of such a very good actor who indeed contributed so much to his field.
I got one for you: My friend who works for a local veterinarian popped this question to me. 'Did you ever think the procedures, Cat scan and Lab tests take on a whole different meaning in the vet's office? Picture that and let me know!
Back to the Trading Post. Every week, I have been announcing our first event of the year coming up. No definite date has been set due to the weather still not cooperating, but I would say in late April, we will be having our ever popular Family Fun Fest Day. Included in that is a large open flea market where locals can set up their tables and tents full of interesting items for sale. There is no charge for the space. All monies go to the vendors. To reserve your space, please call me at 615-464-7824 or email me at Savannahshop@gmail.com. So far, reservations are coming in and I would say we have some very interesting things offered this year at our event. Free lunch is also offered by JD, the Trading Post Chef on the Barbee. Also, if there are craftspeople interested in joining us inside the Barn on a more permanent basis, you need to contact me ASAP. So far, we have had responses regarding folks wishing us to help them clear out used furniture and items they no longer need and have no way of removing them. Our artists here are very thankful for those items and are creating some fantastic new delights up for purchase. Our normal hours are Thursday thru Saturday 10:00 to 5:00. Temporarily, we are open if forecast is for 55 degrees and sunny. To double check our operating status on those days, feel free to call me at the number above to double check before you head out to the Post.
Also, we are working on a farmer's market. Anyone wishing to participate with their garden produce, canned goods, herbs, or potted plants, also notify me as soon as possible. As you can see, things are picking up at the Short Mountain Trading Post, so come on in and join us in all these upcoming activities!
Have a great week. Be careful on the road, take care of each other, laugh, smile, give out a hug or two, and we will chat next week.
Hugs, Savannah
