Uh Oh....I see a few leaves falling now and again....cooler weather, but now the leaf raking begins! Like Rosanna Anna Danna always said It's Always Somethin'!

Speaking of that, I had quite a shocker this morning when I opened my kitchen back door and was greeted by a large furry green monster type object. Turns out to be my big dog, Max, who met up with a fuzzy green sticker bush in the woods and wore it home. Now, that was a mess, plus, he had jumped into his dog bed and covered that with a blanket of sticky. That dog brush will never be the same!

We really had some super visitors this past week at the Trading Post! So many folks are moving from Florida to our state. They love the seasons that they had missed so much and they love all the friendly people that live here. That is good to hear. A special country songwriter made an appearance at the barn and really enjoyed the Barn. He will return in November and be contributing an old country piano to our décor. How special is that! Remember that we Buy, Sell or Trade at the Post so c'mon in and wheel and deal.

Another big event on the schedule is our Christmas Extravaganza on November 8 from 10 to 5. Santa will be here for a pre Christmas appearance to take orders in time for the elves to process for delivery on Christmas Eve. He said in case you haven't had a chance to mail him your gift requests yet, he will be happy to jot them down at the Extravaganza. Mrs. Claus may also take a break from her cocoa and cookies to accompany him! Holiday décor and crafts will be for sale along with tons of merchandise for gift buying. Unique and one of a kind items at great sale prices especially in Savannah's Loft! Free coffee and cocoa will be served. Elves will be handing out candy and cookies. Plus, indoor flea market day in barn. So, put that on your calendar as well.

I was just notified a few days ago that one of my very special visitors had passed away. I remember when she first started to visit me a few years ago and so loved Victorian décor.

One day, she was out on the porch and I noticed she was very upset and had tears in her eyes. I put my arm around her and asked her what was wrong. She said that she had just been to her doctor and was told that she had an illness that they could not fix. She said that she had nowhere to go but to see me and to be surrounded with things that comforted her.

That really made me realize that folks do appreciate what we have here. It's not so much a place to buy things, but a haven of comfort and fellowship. I will miss her very much, but I know that she is watching what is still going on down here and seeing how many people continue to visit us and gather a little peace and welfare as she once did.
For now, we are all looking forward to your visits and are working hard to keep our Short Mountain Trading Post a special place just for you and your family and friends. Have a great week. Take care of each other. Stay healthy. And smile.
Hugs, Savannah
