Oh, Boy did I ever learn a lesson this past week : Never wear overalls in the outhouse! I dropped the suspenders down into the pit of doom...all I can say is that it was an unexpected mess and thank goodness I packed an extra pair of jeans !

My daughter-in-law lost her eyeglasses in one when she went to check for a snake down in the potty. She asked for help to retrieve them and we all finally convinced her that those would be no rose-colored glasses if she was to wear them again !

My grand daughter also has a quite vivid outhouse memory : Ya' gotta lift the lid first, before ya' let go ! She unfortunately had the wet squeaky sneaker syndrome the rest of the day!

Years ago, Cousin Clem locked Uncle Festus in an outhouse, walked away and told nobody about it. Poor Uncle Festus had laryngitis for a week after that. That poor man must have screamed for help all day long until his dog, Snickers, sniffed trouble and barked for Aunt Clara to release her husband. Even if a polecat had been locked up in there with him, no brand of tomato juice could remove that smell off Festus for almost a week !!

Well, enough of a stinky subject.....but things like that DO happen and especially if it happens in the summer, it can be a nasty experience !!

Speaking of summer, it certainly has been HOT. Folks seemed to stay home this week, even tho, we did have some very nice folks visit us and enjoy the Trading Post. We are getting ready to open a new craft booth all about glassworks. Lighted bottles, glass wind chimes, goblets, hanging lamps. You name it, they will be very interesting pieces of art and priced reasonably. Another booth is opening and featuring collectibles and gifts. It's called the Owl's Nest and created by a very special lady, Deena Jones of Smithville. Welcome aboard Folks !!

As usual, we have out fabulous gourd lamps created by Jai Sheronda. If you want to highlight a room in your home and have an item extremely different, then buy a gourd lamp. I have several in my home and am delighted with the color and ambiance that each one lends to my décor. They are gourd-geous!!

The Loft has grown in leaps and bounds with even MORE things for all of you to appreciate !! We will be open over the Fourth of July week-end, so please stop end and join the fun !! Holiday sales are going on, so c'mon in for some great buys!!!

As I mentioned before, our next Flea Market Day is set for August 2, the first Saturday of the month. We have returning vendors signed up and new ones also. One gentleman has tons of race car memorabilia....so there ya' go, Guys!! Always something for everybody. Call me, Savannah, at #615-464-7824 to sign up.

My goodness, there are so many folks suffering from allergies this year!! My daughter says that her entire family is sneezing, getting bad headaches, sore throats and drippy noses. I told her to check around her yard for blooming trees and shrubs. Guess what she found.....a HUGE honeysuckle bush bordering her fence line with the neighbor.

ell, there you go !! I live in the woods and when that poison ivy comes out....help !! All of the
summer greenery is so pretty, but also pretty treacherous in the pollen department. I guess every season everywhere has it's own good and bad . We have no choice but to accept it and just feel fortunate that we are still here, allergies or not, to enjoy life here on earth. It all comes in the same package.

As I always say, make it a point to love your friends and family. Check up on your elderly folks. Guide your young ones. Live peacefully in your home and community and don't worry about the "keeping up with the Joneses" thing. In the end, does it really have mattered ? Be happy and feel lucky to have what you have and take care of each other. Smile, keep that sense of humor and find beauty in all creation.

C'mon in and visit all of us at The Short Mountain Trading Post on Short Mountain Highway. We are open Thursday thru Saturday from 10 to 5. Your phone calls are welcomed if you have any questions on the items we feature or directions to our location. Make sure you also take advantage of the FREE tour offered by the Short Mountain Distillery next door to us. They are super people and offer an amazing amount of moonshine history, tales and hikes.
Chat with all of you next week. Enjoy your summer. Hugs, Savannah
