I, Rebekah Hindman Parton, am announcing my candidacy for county executive.

I grew up in the Woodland Community with my parents, Roger and Sharon Hindman and sisters, Kayla and Shannon. I now reside in the Eastside Community with my husband, Hugh and son, Landon.

For the past 8 years I have served on the County Commission for District 4. I have always strived to represent my district well and do the best for the entire county. I love this county and the way people are so close, like one big family. If you give me the chance to serve as county executive, I would love to make this county grow. When I say grow, I mean good growth, such as Industry. I would like to get these small factories in this county and create jobs. We have had so many in this community impacted by the layoffs. You sometimes don’t realize unless it’s you. If we can get some of these small companies to come in here and offer 30-50 jobs we can boost the revenues. Increase in revenues would be great for the taxpayers.

There are other ways to bring in money besides raising the taxes. As a small business owner I have faced the challenges of decreased revenues due to the lack of industry in our community. There are so many people here leaving this community to work.

I have owned and operated A Touch of Home Flowers over the past 4 years. Through this experience I have learned so much. The county will be managed with the same efficiency as we manage our own business.

If elected county executive, I will be held accountable for the office I hold. I will spend countless hours to achieve the goals I have set forth for this county. I am prepared to sacrifice the hours needed to help this county move into the future. The office of county executive will be more accessible and more open to the possibilities available to this county and it’s citizens. As a county resident and taxpayer I want to know where our tax dollars are being spent. My view is the citizens feel the same way as I do.

If elected, the expenditures of the county will be available to the public. You can trust small town politics are no longer working for this county and it’s future. Vote to make a difference and I’m that difference. Your vote will count. Let’s move this county forward, together, accessibility and accountability, not just talk.
