The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279,Woodbury,Tennessee, announces a KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) licensed Bar-B-Q competition cookout and craft booths, Saturday, October 6, 2012, 7:00 AM - 3:00PM. (Set-Up Friday October 5th) at the Cannon County Fair Grounds in Woodbury,Tennessee.

Water and GFI 20 amp plug will be supplied. Our goal after this year is to make this competition by the Big Boys a licensed and sanctioned permanent major annual fund raiser for American Legion Post 279.

All donations and sponsorship monies stay in Cannon County and go to support our Veterans and their families our youth programs in the community, our military serving today, and to say thanks to our Veterans for the sacrifices they make to keep this country free.

We also do good things for the community, like Boys State, Girls State, Oratorical Contest, Scholarships, American Legion Baseball, supporting Red Apple Days, Good Ole Days, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Veterans Day Program, and the Veterans Day Parade. We provide a Veterans Service Officer to assist veterans and their family members in getting the proper medical, pension, disability,and administrative support.

American Legion Post 279 has an up and running Website with a Sponsor Page for $250.00 and up Sponsors. Your name, business title, phone number, e-mail address, web site information can all be put on our Website until the end of the year.

For the Cook-Off Event at the Fair Grounds, all businesses in Woodbury and in the local area are invited to participate by setting up booths, displaying information/merchandise available about your business. For example, an automotive Dealership will have space for a booth and space to display vehicles during the competition. Crafters; we are looking for local crafters, that would be interested in supporting this special event. Crafters will be set up in the Justin Pemberton Memorial (JPM) arena. Booth fee is $50.00. We hope that you will partnership with the American Legion, the largest Veterans organization in the United States, and especially, Post 279, and be a Major Sponsor for us in 2012, and beyond.

Our goal is to make this Kansas City Competition Event, similar to the one held annually at Lynchburg, Tennessee, and a permanent annual event which will grow bigger and better each year.
