Pull you up a chair on the porch, kick back and relax and get you a cup of coffee, Pepsi or Coke and read some of the news going on around you with your family and friends around the mountain.

Hope you look forward to the column each week that the Lord has impressed me to write. After all, this life is not about us, it is all about him. May we always put him first in everything we say and do.

Some people needing prayer in our community are: Gail Neal (Randy’s wife) who sustained several broken ribs from being thrown off her horse Sunday, and also her grandson who suffered a knee injury in the accident as well.

Jelaine Taylor was hurt last Thursday in an automobile accident when a young boy crossed over into her lane and hit her. Thank goodness she had no broken bones but is very sore and is recuperating at home.

Chloe Evelyn Bogle had cataracts taken off her left eye Thursday. She had already had cataracts taken off her right eye. I am so glad that everything went okay for her. She is a very dear lady to me and always has been.

I visited with Danny and Diane Evans Thursday. Great friends to have and are always there to lend a helping hand. Everyone needs friends like them in their life for the love and support they give in good times and bad.

Condolences to Teresa Stoetzel and family in the passing of her husband, Bob Stoetzel. Teresa, I am so very glad Bob and you got to be at our get-together on Sept. 1. You told me Bob really enjoyed it. Praying for all of you.

Also, condolences to Eunice Byford and family in the loss of her husband, Mert Byford. Eunice, my thoughts and prayers are also with all of you.

Talked with my cousin, Ruth Brown, Wednesday and she is doing well, as are my other cousins, her sisters Shirley Neal of Kentucky and Peggy Young of New Hampshire.

Jo Motley, Greg and Sissy Motley, are flying out to Chicago this evening to be with Kyle and Zimba and their son Christian for a few day.s

Farmers are so very busy around here working in hay and tobacco.

I found out that Bill Nokes has bees so I got a pint of honey for Fay Pitts, my sister-in-law. Thomas Earl Nichols and Betty Keaton both ran out of honey for some of their customers.

It won’t be long until we have some spectacular displays of autumn leaves turned crimson, yellow and orange. Mums will be everywhere with cornstalks and pumpkins to show off how beautiful it is here on the mountain. There are so many great ideas that people come up with to make their lawns a sight to behold.

I do venture off the mountain every now and then and it seems that you can always run into friends and neighbors you know at town shopping too. As was the case on Thursday at Wal-Mart in Smithville. I saw Donna Kay Knowles, a fellow church member, Dorothy Hobbs of Pe Ridge, and a lady that I have always admired, Mrs. Macon Judkins. She is 91 years old, but to me she doesn’t look her age. It was such a pleasure to talk to her awhile.

News that is important to you in your neck of the woods is important to me to put in this column. So give me a call at 615-563-4429 so I can get your news faster.

In everything, give thanks to God for all the blessings he bestows upon you.

I enjoyed your column. I felt as if I was on that porch visiting with friends and family. Wish there were more communities contributing to the happenings of Cannon County.
