Got a question for you.

What do you like to read or see in the Cannon Courier?

We've already got a pretty good idea of what you DON'T like to read in your hometown newspaper. But that’s beside the point.

We’ve got lots of plans for the rest of the year and even into 2014, but we are always open to suggestions. We know you love sports, the more the better, and there is a desire for police news as well.

What we are looking for are ideas about different people, events and places. Quite often this type of story is everyday life to you or your friends and family, but it is “news” to everyone else. Examples?

Say your uncle who lives in Bradyville has a collection of hundreds or thousands of pocketknifes. Or maybe your aunt is known for her fabulous cakes? Or what about your neighbor’s dog that rides everywhere on the top of a truck?

Heck, you may have a brother or coworker who’s known for his crazy sense of humor or maybe his singing ability?
Don’t forget how Cannon County is known for its artistry in everything from sculpture to basket-making. People love to read about that sort of thing. And we enjoy writing about it.

But we can’t bring these unique stories to life unless we know about them!

So give us a call at 563-2512  or drop me an email at mwest@cannoncourier.com. You can always drop by the office too. Just let us know.

For several years I wrote a column for the Cannon County Bass Club that detailed tournamnets held on various lakes, tournament results, lake conditions, etc.
I was shocked to find that when I stopped (because I quit fishing the tournaments) that several people wanted it to continue because they enjoyed seeing the pictures and learning which lakes were hot so they could go fishing.
Might be a good idea to see if you could get that column started back again.
