Guy D. Alexander, Jr., 74, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at Woodbury Health Care Center following a short illness – complications from a stroke.

Mr. Alexander was a native of Cannon County and Woodbury resident. A member of the Baptist Church, he was a veteran of Tennessee Army National Guard from 1960–1967, a retired homebuilder and rental property owner.

Survivors:

Son & Daughter-in-law: Guy D. (Bo) Alexander, III and Shelly Smotherman Alexander of Murfreesboro.

Sisters: Joy Scott & Pauline Witty both of Woodbury and 1 other sister.

Niece: Teresa Scott Stoetzel and 2 other Nieces.

Nephews: Mark & Steve Scott and 1 other Nephew.

Beloved Canine Companion: Cocoa.

Numerous other cousins, Friends and Colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his “Darling Bride” Julie Wilsey Alexander and his parents, Guy Alexander, Sr. and Mary E. Davenport Alexander.

Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 with Bro. Bratten Tucker and Bro. Derrell O’Neal officiating. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.

Pallbearers: Tommy, Steve & Michael Bell, Steve & Mark Scott, Lytle Tenpenny.

Honorary Pallbearers: Carlton Shirley, Bob Stoetzel, A.C. Bell, Jr. & Leland Schwamberger.

In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital % Woodbury Funeral Home.

So sad but so much better off now than being sick. What a great man, even tho I did nt have the pleasure of knowing him that long. God be with the family.
