I am not a resident of Cannon County, however I have a extremely personal reason for supporting this cause. I had a family member who experienced domestic violence first hand. This is a much needed support group! May God Bless you and keep our women and children safe!

It is a tragedy that there has to be a poll to get the attention needed to aid in the county leadership to do something to support this organization. If one simply reads the paper each week it is clearly evident that this support is necessary, and the domestic violence issues hitting the paper are only the tip of the iceburg of the true incidents. It is way past time for county funds to be used to help aid in saving lives and improving the futures of family members affected by this abuse.

I just wanted to say that the expenses that are mentioned here are just exactly that and nothing else, expenses of operating the office phone bill, printer supplies etc. This organization also helps other families in need in the community when donated items permit, year round not just during the holidays. Some people say how can such a small amount do that much good well believe me it does an amazing amount. SAVE has provided training not only for the other agencies in the community but, has helped get educational programs implemented in the public schools in Cannon County. Just since the beginning of this year 80 victims have been assisted. Learn more about what they do by visiting the website. http://www.cannoncountysave.org

I'm not saying anything against the program, but... who is overseeing SAVE, Lisa Baird? and who is checking her? Is SAVE gonna be another REACH with the director spending the money however she wants with no one to answer to? and the county bailing them out over $80k? How much of the already donated funds paid Lisa's Salary? how much is Lisa's salary? who does she answer to? These are questions they need to be answered before any funds are handed out.

As is the case with similar agencies who receive money from the county and or town (the library, the senior center, and REACH), SAVE is overseen by a board or directors. Lisa's salary is $1500 per month before taxes. She has not received a salary in over four months. During the last two fiscal years the combined amount of money donated to SAVE by the county and town is $7,000.

I agree "just asking" and at any time Lisa Baird the director of SAVE will be glad to show you any financial information that you or anyone would like to see. There is a board as Kevin has said and not to pat anyone's back but there are different kinds of people that start grass root organizations. There are the ones that see an opportunity to do something good but, they will also benefit and then there are those who do it because they believe in it, as a needed service And in Lisa's case I have personally asked her why do you continue to fight for this you haven't been paid in so long and there is no guarantee of another penny at any time. Her personal sacrifices have been huge and many. And her response to me has been because it has to be done these people need help and no one else out there is helping them. It's hard to believe sometimes that there are still genuine people that care about the good of the people in their community. But I can say if there is one person in this county that does sincerely and truly care about others well being it is Ms. Lisa Baird. She has stood beside these victims time in an time out over the last several years when most would have went home the first time they didn't get paid. The financial information is public and anyone that requests to see it can. And I recommend that you do investigate and ask questions SAVE welcomes them. SAVE wants everyone to know just exactly what they do. Please take the time to learn the good from the bad that's all I ask. Thank you, Tina Campbell
