All 3 of them served during times of unprecedented challenge and all of them made poor decisions that made the situation worse.

We have got to realize that some of these failures are because of people like us in America that will not give anyone a chance. What would this world be if we all made good decisions. This is not up for debate so I will not answer any comments.just my opinion.

Obama needs to triple the national debt, shift more of the tax burden from the well off to middle class, get real wages to decline even more and perhaps have a lapse of memory every now and then and he would get up there with Reagan.

Corey, a person, especially one who is elderly, can suffer lapses of memory without having Alzheimer's. Even his closest advisers believed Reagan suffered from memory lapses as president. Whether Alzheimer's was the cause is a matter of debate, but most agree it was not.

Corey, regarding Reagan, it is a matter of debate, it is not "well documented." As to endorsing someone's comments and enforcing TOS, I am not trying to find a hidden meaning in everything dailyreader or anyone else writes. As for his expressing anti-Republican views, I invite anyone to express whatever "anti" views they may have on just about any topic. I'm not going to reject them or ban the poster simple because I don't like what they have to say, or the way they say it. What would that lead too?

Kevin you being a reporter with unlimited resources to research obvious and known facts I really find it hard to believe you would say that "it is a matter of debate and "not well documented" that Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's is astounding. And had it during his Presidency as well.

The affects of the disease don't just suddenly appear overnight. To think they were not in the onset during those years is not very sensible.

His son Ron Reagan wrote in his recent book "My Father at 100" of the affects of Alzheimer’s on his President Reagan and also stipulates that it was prevalent during his years in the White House in the book. Don’t you think that is documentation? Especially considering the source is his son who had immediate contact with the man during those years.

His daughter Patti Davis in an article to TIME magazine February 6th, 2011 talks about Reagan’s Alzheimer’s disease and the affects it had on his life.

Ronald Reagan himself wrote a letter in November 1994 openly discussing his diagnosis of having Alzheimer's disease.

The list goes on and on from people in the White House during his years in the Presidency as well as his official biographer. All saying basically the same thing over and again.

None of that has anything to do with dailyreader and his attempts to belittle people in every single article you post.

Apparently you missed my point completely if you think this is because I believe dailyreader to be anti-Republican or "anti" anything. He is a self proclaimed Atheist, War Protestor and Democrat. None of which I agree with, but also none of which I care about. Those are his choices and I am fine with him having them.

You should know by now I could care less about his views on history, politics, religion or anything else he spews. Allowing him to comment on any topic and express his ideas I firmly believe to be the Courier's right and his as well.

What I believe to be contrary to your TOS posted prior to log in is the continued inflammatory remarks, slurs, and derogatory comments the Courier allows him to continue to post. His comment about Reagan and his “lapse of memory” was as much of a jab as calling a woman a “nitwit” in the Crane article.

You can let him post his personal views on any subject. I am 100% fine with that. I am not fine with the Courier allowing him to belittle people and make statements simply to inflame or mock people.

And what's more important is that you shouldn't either. Especially when you have the power to stop it! To continue to allow it is to endorse it.

Corey, if you will read one of the books by a Reagan advisor who was much closer to Reagan in his presidential years than Ron was, you will note he says Reagan's lapse of recall had nothing to do with a mental illness.

If I remember correctly from that book, he was being treated for an infection at a time when one of those occurred and may have, as I have also, reacted adversely to that medication.

I had just finished reading excerpts from that book before posting trying to figure out why he was rated so high and that incident came to mind as I posted.

Part of Reagan's greatness lay in his ability to relate to all. His lapse of memory made him even more like some of us and endeared him to many.

Sure doesn't take much to "inflame" some folks.

Well daily of course we have read two different books lately because the one I read two months ago described instances in the latter part of the Presidency when they put post it notes around the room to help him identify and remember people’s names that he had known for years. Do you think that was due to his ability to “relate” as you say or perhaps because it was more than a “memory lapse”?

You remember the Iran Contra scandal when he couldn't remember anything. Some of that was from trying to hide things and some of it was because he really couldn't remember it. All of that was during his Presidency.

And his ability to “relate” to people is entirely different from remembering things. Reagan was called the "Great Communicator" not because of his ability to remember, but because he had a way of drawing people into his beliefs and speaking in a way that made people buy what he was selling.

To think he did not have the onset of Alzheimer's during the last part of his Presidency despite the evidence is silly. I think I will let his family members speak for him considering they would have known him better than you or I.

And despite what you desire, you do not inflame me. You are simply a pebble in my shoe that I find irritating from time to time. But, also very easily remedied by taking the shoe off.

You do enough to discredit, shame and embarrass yourself without any help from me.

Had to believe what is going on in the United States.

Republicans in Tennessee want up to 15 years in prison for feet washing and praying if done in accordance with some Islamic code.

Republicans in Texas want hand guns on college campuses and in classrooms. Seems the more killings there are by guns, the more they want them available to all. High schools next?

Won't mention except in passing the attempt by Republicans to limit the power of collective bargaining by unions.

Over in Cannon County we have the Secretary of the local Republican Party wanting to limit discourse to just what he feels is suitable for the public to peruse.

Wonder about tomorrow. Sure wish Reagan was back.

@ dailyreader:

SOVEREIGNTY: "some Islamic code"

That if which you refer to is Sharia law. We're doing fine with our own laws.

PROTECTION: "the more they want them available to all"

Availability has nothing to do with location.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: "Won't mention except in passing the attempt by Republicans to limit the power of collective bargaining by unions."

Sure wish FDR was back.

POLITICS: Over in Cannon County we have the Secretary of the local Republican Party wanting to limit discourse to just what he feels is suitable for the public to peruse.

All Corey has asked for is civil discourse, and I think even you would admit that is not one of your strengths.

FUTURE: "Wonder about tomorrow. Sure wish Reagan was back."

Me too.

Mr Halpern, civil discourse?

"liar. I called you one."

Back in the old days, I would sent my second over for a choice of weapons but civility prevents me from doing that today.

While the spelling of atheist was finally mastered, the intended use has always been in a pejorative manner.

But you are correct. I have been out of line at times and will sincerely try to improve.

FDR, HST and Reagan---don't make them like that anymore.

Well daily that was just another rant that proves my point that I don't have to do anything to help you embarrass shame or discredit yourself.

The big difference between you and me is that I would not have sent a "second" to do my dirty work like you would have, nor would I have hid behind a pen name. I would have come myself and you would have known it was me all along. Try being a man and do the same.

Stop lying about things like the Sullivan Act and I won't call you a liar. That seems pretty simple, but something I doubt seriously you are capable of doing.

I don't recall mis-spelling the word atheist, but I forgot you were the spell check champion of this site, so I will take your word for it.

I find it funny that your arrogance is so big that you think you put your pants on both legs at a time compared to all of the rest of us.

Sooner vs. later you will take the rope and the problem will be solved. You just can't help yourself.
