Participants make a final equipment check before going on the river
The first Stones River Relay, sponsored by the Stones River Watershed Association, was held Saturday. Beginning on Short Mountain – the highest point in Middle Tennessee – the Relay had three stages.

The first leg was a run (mostly downhill). Stage 2 was a bike ride (again mostly downhill).

Following the running and biking legs of the Stones River Relay, participants took to the river for a float.

The Stones River Watershed Association (SRWA) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit all volunteer organization. The mission of SRWA is to protect, preserve, enhance and restore the natural resources within the Stones River Watershed.

Looks like a lot of fun. Cannon County needs more events of this type. The roads in the county layout very nicely for a century bike ride. Maybe have some events like this during Good Ole Days.

My 7 year old son had a life changing experience participating in the 22 mile relay! He was so empowered!

We came from Chicago to participate and the wildlife did not disappoint! We look forward to the relay again next year. A great cause and very family friendly event.
