Two people were arrested recently on charges of manufacturing meth and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing meth by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department.

Charged on Jan. 7 following an investigation by CCSD Detective Matt Goney on Jan. 5 were Keith David Smith and Ronica Renee Arnold, both of 148 Rains Ridge Rd., Woodbury.

Smith and Arnold were allegedly found to be in possession of several items and chemicals used to manufacture meth. They were also found in possession of the finished meth product.

Cannon County Sheriff Darrell Young said that on Jan. 5 deputies accompanied a probation and parole officer to the residence on Rains Ridge Rd. to conduct a home visit on Smith. During the home visit, the probation and parole officer found enough evidence of apparent meth making in the home for deputies to obtain a search warrant.

Bond for both suspects was set at $250,000. Initial court date is March 1.

In a separate incident, Smith, along with Christopher Douglas Knopp, 1550 Pleasant View Rd., Woodbury, were both charged with theft under $500 on Jan. 4 by Deputy Eric Moss. They allegedly took four railroad rails approximately 20 to 25 feet in length. The rails belong to Dennis Hunt, and are valued at $400.

Bond for Knopp was set at $3,000. Bond for Smith in this case was set at $6,000. Initial court date for both is March 1.

i agree with trailrider612, why do we keep spending money to arrest and trial the same people over and over for the same offense? I know there are many other useful and important things in the county that the money could be used for.
