Alexander: This Is An Historic Mistake

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding passage of the health care bill in the U.S. House of Representatives:

“This is an historic mistake. And unlike Social Security, Medicare and civil rights legislation, the only thing bipartisan about it is the opposition to it.

“The mistake is to expand a health care delivery system that is already too expensive instead of reducing its cost so more Americans can afford health insurance.

“This taxes job creators in the middle of a recession. It means Medicare cuts and premium increases for millions of Americans. When you include the cost of paying doctors who serve Medicare patients, it will increase the national debt.

“It will force governors to cut higher education funding, and raise taxes and tuition to pay for new Medicaid costs. In Tennessee, the governor says the cost will be $1.1 billion or more over five years.

“And the last-minute Washington takeover of the student loan program will add a half trillion more to the debt and overcharge 19 million student loans to help pay for health care.”

What nonsense--Alexander knows better. If you watched C-Span last evening you saw the Republicans frothing at the mouth and decrying this bill that gives insurance coverage to 32 million Americans, many who have pre-existing conditions that now deny them from any coverage.
Alexander and his co-horts in the House, as seen last evening, are of the same ilk that fought civil rights, Social Security, Medicare, Wage and Hour laws, protection in the work place, the right to organize just to name a few issues that brought dignity and respect to people of all color and creed.
Alexnder has his but wants to deny that coverage to millions of others less fortunate them him--shame on you along with Corker and the resr who don't want an ill person to have insurance coverage.

Actually this bill doesn't 'give' health care to 32 million people, it has to be paid for. It will be paid for with increased health care costs by the other 270 million people in the US that have health care coverage.

This bill is a terrible burden on the economy and will result in US companies losing ground to foreign competitors and more jobs moving out of the US.

This bill increases insurance premiums and health care spending in the US. There is nothing that reduces health care costs, it does the opposite of what it was intended to do.

Much rather pay taxes that benefit those who need insurance coverage then blow those trillions of tax dollars on wars that are not needed to secure our nation (let us save lives rather then kill off tens of thousands). And yes, let us increase the taxes on those who are earning more than $200,000 and let us also increase taxes on those companies who have raped and pillaged consumers for years under the Bush regime.
In the months to come most Americans will realize this was the right step to take down the road to more reform and coverage of the unfortunate. In the meantime, Republicans will continue to shout baby killer, nigger, faggot and other derogatory phrases and words, unable to see that this was the right thing to do for millions of Americans!
Sickening but true.
Ranks up there with Social Security and Medicare--for the naysayers just look at the hell Truman went thru when he allowed Negroes to become an important part of our military or when he fired that egomanic MacArthur--history now ranks him among the best.

The health care bill increases health care spending in the US and increases health insurance premiums for Americans.

The health care bill increase health care benefits for employers by 20%. It is the last straw for many companies that are struggling already. It will cost many jobs in the US and encourage more jobs to move to Mexico and Asia.

Obama's War and Military spending is greater that GWB's. Obama's budget deficit for February was $222 billion, that is just for one month. Now this new health care spending will add another $1 trillion to the national debt.

The health care bill is totally irresponsible.
