The Cannon County Beer Board will meet on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. at the Cannon County Courthouse.

One of the items on the agenda is whether to approve a request to allow for the selling of beer in Cannon County on Sundays. The meeting was called for by the beer board.

Under current county law, establishments which have a beer permit are not allowed to sell beer on Sunday.

If the beer board approves allowing establishments to sell beer on Sunday, the final decision as to whether they would be permitted to do so would have to be passed by the Cannon County Commission.

The commission is scheduled to meet next on Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at the courthouse.
