Looking forward to watching--hopefully TSSAA will partner with PBS for the state high school basketball championships. Look forward to seeing both CCHS teams playing then.

Note --LBJ cranked up the CPB in 1967. Federal Funding (your tax dollars) contributes 15% to 17% of dollars needed to bring us what we see on 8 and 22.

Republicans have gone on record as wanting to slash funding for CPB and it is also noted the the deficit commission has recommended a reduction.

If reductions occur we may not be able to see broadcasts like that above in the future unless there is a greater increase in private donations. Contribute please, I have done so for years and have had my old company donate tens of thousands of dollars in products for auction.

Sen Demint's comments:

"Since 2001, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds programming for National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service, has received nearly $4 billion in taxpayer money," said DeMint. "The country is over $13 trillion in debt and Congress must find ways to start trimming the federal budget to cut spending. NPR and PBS get about 15 percent of their total budget through federal funding, so these programs should be able to find a way to stand on their own. With record debt and unemployment, there's simply no reason to force taxpayers to subsidize a liberal programming they disagree with."

"We can't keep borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars from China each year to fund public radio and public TV when there are so many choices already in the market for news and entertainment. If CPB is defunded, taxpayers will save billions. This is just one of the many cuts Congress should make next year.

"I plan to introduce legislation to defund CPB and force a vote on it as well as other measures to start getting our fiscal house in order," said Senator DeMint."

Demint is a Republican Senator S.C.

Unreal dailyreader that you feel the need to bring politics into every single article put out on this website.

Why don't you move to Greece where the government pays for every single thing the people do and protest and participate in the riots if they try to take anything away.

Hey, then you can wonder why the entire system is bankrupt and on the verge of total collapse without a bailout from other countries.

Man you are pathetic and have no life what-so-ever that you have to bring politics into PBS broadcasting a football game.

And by the way, I would give up the entire PBS station and the football games to save the 15% to 17% of the tax dollars spent to support them. We might could use that money to say reduce the deficet, build a hospital in a rural community or maybe a homeless shelter or an abuse center for battered women.

I guarantee there would be a station somewhere not funded by tax dollars that would pick up the programs that could actually make money like Sesame Street or Antiques Roadshow.

I've never known anyone who thinks that the government should run eveything and pay for everything like you do. I bet you are a total freeloader who has never worked a day in your life.

hey josh, i think the best way to reduce the deficit is to cut out programs like food stamps, govt subsidized housing, and govt backed student loans. don't you? it is amazing the number of people who take advantage of these programs, especially young people who want to move out from home but DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!!! SO THEIR PARENTS SIGN THEM UP FOR EVERY PROGRAM OUT THERE SO THEY CAN LIVE INDEPENDENTLY, SUCKING THE GOVT TEAT DRY!!!

while we are at it, let's defund tenncare too.

hey hensondelbert, how about you and dailyreader go to Greece together. Then you both can live off the government like the freeloaders you both want and expect everyone else to be.

This article was about PBS broadcasting a football game. Not politics. The idiot dailyreader brought politics into it and of course you followed right along with him like a dog on a leash.

Do you sit and roll over every time dailyreader commands you to? Be a good puppy and he might give you a treat.

hensondelbert you are as dumb as your father dailyreader cause you just don't get this was an article about FOOTBALL and not politics.

Everything is not politics like you and your daddy want everyone to believe. Get a life man and quit following him around like a Jim Jones cult project from article to article worry about what everyone has to say about his stupidity.

Whatever you have to say about daily, he is definitely not "stupid"

Josh: When I read your posts I find a striking similarity to others I have read on the Courier.

Daja vu all over again, as Yogi would say.

Many of the same phrases, same words, same sentence structure are repeated verbatim. Tou need to read a little on syntax and make those changes necessary so you don't come across like the other posts.

It is something like a narrative that takes the words of another writer and then weaves those into his own writings without give full credit to the original author.

One can rephrase, reword, say Dr. Mason as much as he wants, weaving his words into the story everywhere. While on the surface it may appear or even in the writer's own mind, seem to be his own expressions, it really is nothing more than taking the original and breaking it into what the writer hopes will pass off as his own extensive knowledge of something he knows very little of to begin with.

It is much better, in those circumstances, to just quote what the original writer said, Dr Mason for instance, and let it go at that.
