Cannon County High School conducted a Student Mock Election on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010. Students in Mr. William F. Curtis’s U.S. Government classes conducted the election.

U.S. Government First Period Students distributed the ballots to all classes, Second Period students collected the ballots and began tabulating the results, Seventh Period students continued the tabulation, and Eighth Period AP Students analyzed and published the results.

This Mock Election is in association with the National Student/Parent Mock Election (NSPME), a national voter-education program for students and their parents that give young Americans the chance to make their voices heard in the electoral process.

“In the classrooms of today are our future Presidents, members of Congress, governors and judges – but most importantly, these young people are the voters of tomorrow,” said NSPME President Gloria Kirshner. “Whether we are sending these children to the White House or to the polls, we hope to give them a deep understanding of ‘government of the people, by the people, and for the people.’ ”

600 Total Students voted in the Mock Election and their results are as follows:

"Liquor Making Passes Test At Cannon County High"

Interesting vote--432 for--I read the Church of Christ bulletin encouraging a NO vote---did any of the other county churches come out with a stand?

Thank you Mr Curtis and CCHS.

A vote for Bone is a vote for a future State Income Tax,Also no control over who is in this country illegal.Check his voteing record on this if there is any doubt.

Guys, this was a mock election held by students. The real one takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Give them some slack.

The light at the end of the tunnel is the next generation may make their own decisions instead of letting their preacher or faith (or lack of) lead them or dictate to them their political positions.

Also students, very nice bipartisan election. Appears they are capable of making their own decisions without letting a PARTY AFFILIATION lead them and dictate to them their political position.

If you can look past the mess we have made, the future is sooo bright...

doolittlerd77 Whether I agree with you or daily reader makes absolutely no difference. But, you belittle this county by holding up the reputation of "what happens in Cannon County stays in Cannon Co." and I will just tell you I have heard a lot more than one persons that reside in other counties express that opinion. So on behalf of the other citizens of this county that don't agree with you that anyone should be able to place there opinion stop it. If it wasn't for other people outside of this county whether they live here now or not I guess it would still be ok to beat your wives, children, parents and animals too. It takes everyone's opinions and ideas to make this county a better place to live.

If you live here. If you vote here. If you pay taxes here. If you have a vested interest here then you have a right to voice your opinion here.

If you don't qualify in any of those categories above, in my opinion you need to stay out of the business of a place you don't have any concern with.

This is not about being born here. This is not about how long you have lived here and this is not about if you moved here from another country. I don't care about any of those things, so don't get confused.

This is about people who want nothing more than to spread liberal garbage and divide a community when they have no reason other than to start trouble.

How about I call you on the phone and tell you how to raise your family? How about I call you and tell you about everything I see is wrong in your life?

That is exactly what dailyreader is doing when he writes on this site. Nothing more and nothing less. And yes, I have a problem with that just like you would if I called you on the phone to tell you how wrong your life was.

If you don't like my opinion, then scroll on up to the next one.
