Democrats Destroying America, Local Republicans Claim

State Sen. Mae Beavers, left, visits with Lindbergh Dennis during the Cannon County Republican Party meeting Tuesday.
On the eve of the start to early voting for the November General Election last week, area Republicans met to officially reorganize their party in an effort to strengthen their voice in an area generally regarded as vastly Democrat.

The Cannon County Republican Party came to life inside the Cannon County Senior Citizen Center when the group met, elected its respective officers and effectively began its mission ... seemingly one of good vs. evil.

“The major difference (between the Republican and Democratic parties) is the Democrats have proven without a shadow of a doubt that their party is in full rebellion against God almighty,” said Matt Studd, a Republican commissioner on the Cannon County Election Commission.

“They are thumbing their nose and pointing their fist and celebrating everything He calls an abomination,” Studd said. “It’s an elite group of people that live in rebellion to God and pass legislation that is in rebellion to God. The Republican Party, from my perspective, is the answer to that.”

Part of the mission facing the newly reorganized Cannon County Republican Party is repairing damage generated by Democratic leaders, Studd said.

“We are tired of seeing our Constitution ignored, our Christian heritage stomped on and we are going to get together as a group and try to repair the damage,” Studd said. “We have once again put Cannon County’s conservative voice back on the map.”

Sen. Mae Beavers, who is being opposed by George McDonald (D), and Mark Pody (R), who is challenging Stratton Bone (D) for the District 46 House of Representatives seat, attended the reorganization of the Cannon County Republican Party. Cannon County is included in their respective districts.

Beavers told the gathering of her political forum with McDonald in Lebanon Monday night.

“I am running against a millionaire farmer who got $932,000 in farm subsidies from 2005 to the present time while he served on the U.S.D.A. Board,” Beavers said. “We are not against farmers but in 2007, 82 percent of farmers did not get subsidies so that shows you how special he is if he is in the Top 10 percent of farmers that get so much money.”

Beavers, who supports strong immigrations laws, also said her opponent has no answers on immigration laws and indicated she named illegal immigrants “that I knew worked for him” during the forum.

The senator also weighed in on Obama Care.

“They are trying to force health care down our throat and you can be fined up to $750 if you don’t have it,” Beavers said. “It would be easier for us to spend the $750 and then if we have a problem we got to the insurance companies and they have to cover us immediately. There is no waiting period. You pay a little premium, they will give you treatment and you drop it. It’s a huge problem for national health care. It needs to be repealed.”

Pody wanted to make his desire to debate Bone known to area Republicans.

“We are supposed to have a forum in Lebanon (Oct. 25) but they have announced there may be a scheduling conflict,” Pody said. “I am available night, day, any time, any place. I have no problem with the forum, no problem with the questions, no problem with the moderator, so I hope the problem is not with my campaign or myself.”

Republicans on hand for the first meeting of the Cannon County Republican Party also weighed in on a political ad purchased by the Cannon County Democratic Party and run in the Oct. 12 edition of The Cannon Courier.

“This was in The Cannon Courier and it says, ‘Don’t let Republicans scare you about Obama Care,’” Pody said, clinging the paper in his hand and revealing the ad to those in attendance. “Unbelievable!!!! Don’t let Republicans scare you? The White House is scaring me. It is not Republicans. This won’t work and it is not even constitutional.

“When they make it where insurance agents are not making money selling health insurance then they are going to say they can’t afford to sell it and you are going to be forced to go one place to get it. They already know what they are doing.”

Even though national health care and the current state of the economy were hot topics amongst fellow Republicans, there were others that generated local interest to become a party member.

“Personally, Obama Care is a hot topic right now but from my standpoint it’s a moral issue,” said Corey Davenport, elected the Republican Party’s secretary. “I am a conservative and I can’t understand the reasoning behind abortion. Murder is OK if it’s called a choice but if is not a choice it is not OK. We have criminals behind bars for killing people yet we never talk about victim’s rights and we can turn around and kill an unborn child. That’s big for me. The economy is the major factor.”

Marcus Bowling, elected co-chair, said the differences between the parties is a long list.

“The Republican Party is getting back to its roots, smaller government, less intrusion, tax breaks, that’s where we are different from Democrats,” Bowling said. “We are becoming more dependant on the government. Nationwide there is mistrust with the government.”

One of many problems with the economy is the spending spree taking place by Democrats in Washington, according to Davenport.

“Spend, spend, spend and there are no consequences,” Davenport said. “They have no sense of control in terms of how to spend our money. They are forcing us to accept a health care the majority of Americans did not want. There is so many things to count. We need to repeal Obama Care, we need to curb the spending and become fiscally responsible.”

Studd says the Obama way is the wrong one for America.

“Obama wants to put everybody on the government (bill) and create a culture of couch potatoes that are not productive and seek the next handout,” Studd said. “Folks always seeking the next handout will never be in position to give a hand up to anyone.”

National health care already is a hot topic, particularly amongst Republicans, but it was an even greater issue within the Cannon County Republican camp during its initial meeting due to the timely ad purchased by the local Democrats.

“Obama Care absolutely should be repealed,” Studd said. “I believe it is unconstitutional to force citizens to buy any particular product and then be penalized if they do not. It is a form of coercion. It is a direction and a product that us unfunded and is not sustainable. There is fiscal insanity with suggesting such a health bill. Republicans should offer a program that allows for people to carry their insurance across state boundaries and provisions to cover folks with pre-existing conditions.”

The Cannon County Republican Party has been dormant as an organization during recent years but its members seemingly have maintained strong opinions. Now they believe a unified voice will allow them to bring those opinions to the forefront.

Anyone who believes that one group is totally right and the other is totally wrong or this is about the party of good vs. the party of evil, lives in a world of tunnel vision. Take off your blinders and see the whole picture. Pick our politicians for their stands , political records and experience not the letter that follows their name.

Millions are being spent every hour by politicans and supporters to obtain these positions of power. Some want the power to help fellow man and some want the power.

I am an independent who at this time leans to a conservative side till I hear the republican save god cry.

I did not know that the republican party was on the right hand of God or mr studd a prophet.I was under the opinion that God loves everyone even sinners.

I don't think God wants anything to do with politics, and it should not be included in politics because you have separation of church and state.

I'm electing a politician not a preacher.

Vote Democrat

Religion is always going to be a part of politics, because you will always have religious people involved in the political process. It should be separated by a "wall" from government, that wall being laws.

However, many of our laws are based upon religious principles.

Without invoking the name of God, Democrats do their share of preaching. They tell us what products we should or should not buy. What we should eat and drink. How we should raise and educate our children. That it is a moral obligation to pay taxes. That individual freedoms are less important than what they view as the collective good. That big business is evil and big government is good. That redistribution of wealth should be done by government and not by those who earn the wealth.

In reality, the "preaching" aspect of politics is the centerpiece for liberals, conservatives and moderates alike.

How soon some people forget, Please remember the Bush era. What a mess that was.

Dear dmm49, please read our Constitution. It states that "Congress shall make no law respecting and establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof......"
This means that the government will not dictate to us what our religion shall be.
I really get tired of people misinterpreting the Constitution.

Just to make sure you and all other Democrats understand, there is no clause in the Constitution that uses the phrase "Seperation of Church and State".

The term is an off-shoot of the original phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists Association in 1802.

You have all been misled and lied to when you quote a fictious phrase that simply does not exist in the Constitution.

Personally, I don't believe in a "Congress approved religion" either. However, I don't believe Congress or the minority has the right to tell me I cannot pray, practice or promote religion as I choose.

It is just as wrong for Congress to make laws promoting religion as it is for Congress to promote laws destroying it.

That is what you Democrats fail to see when it concerns religion and the laws that are made!

And dmnn49 you keep voting Democrat and get more of the same.

More governement
More taxes
Less individual rights
More debt
More unemployment
More abortions and the killing of innocent babies
More inept leadership

If that is what you want, then absolutely you need to voe Democratic.

“full rebellion against God almighty” “They are thumbing their nose and pointing their fist and celebrating everything He calls an abomination,” “ live in rebellion to God” “legislation that is in rebellion to God” “Christian heritage stomped on”—

Looks like the only thing this camp meeting lacked was someone shouting Hallelujah, Amen, God save us from this degenerate generation and “George Washington was a Christian.”

But maybe they all did while they rolled in the aisles, gnashed teeth, spoke in tongues and burned a liberal Democrat at the stake.

Mae commented on farmers–Some 1,013 Cannon County farmers collected, during that same period, $10,838,840—some as much as $850,000 with a number of well known Republican farmers in the county collecting hundreds of thousands for themselves–feeding at the trough of the government--- while wringing their hands over the deficit-what hypocrisy.

I like this one best “The Republican Party is getting back to its roots, smaller government, less intrusion, tax breaks, that’s where we are different from Democrats.”

Agreed, they are different. The Republicans have elected some of the worst presidents the United States has had–they are, indeed, different..

Bush Jr.–ranked 39th–fifth from bottom on the latest worst to best ranking. They have brought us, in addition to a number 39, Nixon and Ford, ranked 30th and 28th and Bush Sr. at 22. The best they could do during those years was to get Reagan out front - mentally challenged and all at the end, who came in 18th.

Sure we had our Carter, ranked 32nd but JFK - 11th, LBJ - 16th, Clinton, even with the cigar, – 13th--Republicans look totally inept in selecting qualified leaders.
Shouldn’t mention Hoover at 36 or Harding at 41 but what a contrast to Truman at 9th and FDR –1st. All those years and finally we get a Republican in the top ten–Ike, a quasi-republican, at 10th.

Looks like Palin or O’Donnell in 2012--- just to keep with the trend, the ineptness, they have established. Don't want them to be disappointed.

Religion

Why don't we let God handle the election and get about saving lost souls.
I believe that would please him more
October 18, 2010 at 5:27am
rd77, rightly so--- "the right to tell me I cannot pray, practice or promote religion as I choose" --- and that right, rd77, should be exercised in camp meetings like the above, your home and your church and not in our public schools or government buildings. That "seperation" you talk about is not "serperation" when forced on all under the aegis of the government.

You really love to hear yourself ramble don't you dailyreader. I am glad you do because most of your attempts at comments are very incohesive. I know they sound good in your head, but actually writing them is a huge problem for you.

I think that is funny you call out the Republican Presidents you say are bad.

You forget the fact that when our country has prospered the most it was under Republican Preseidents and when it has been worse economically and morally it has been under the control of the Democrats.

And just to be clear, when you said " The Republicans have elected some of the worst presidents the United States", you once again fail to understand that the AMERICAN people elected those Presidents and not just the "Republicans" as you would have people believe.

Reagan carried every single state in the Union except Minnesota in 1984 and that was only because Mondale was from Minnesota. That means everyone including Democrats voted for Reagan.

And also, once again you really should get away from the plagerism and stop the cut, copy and paste off the internet and come up with an original idea for a change.

P.S. Since you decided to be the spell check for eveyone and thier comments in previous articles, let me do the same. Learn how to spell seperation (it is not "serperation") and it might, and I say might, make your attempt at making an argument sound more intelligent.
October 18, 2010 at 11:23am
GOP: Copy and paste–Jefferson, when reading material of great interest to him would “copy and paste” that information–phrase or paragraph or particular thought that occurred while reading–into a “commonplace book.”
A worthwhile exercise, especially if you collect those by subject matter.
For instance, when you want puncture the bubble of those who are “tilting at windmills”with their inanity, no need to look for the passage from your Cervantes book on the shelf, but under “tilting at windmills” is the quote you want.
There is the danger the subtlety of the quote may be over the head of the reader, but that is true of most anything one would say.

PS: I used a WordPerfect10 for this, just to check spelling and I really wanted to “copy and paste” for you.

Another copy and paste with reference to the Reagan vote--"you can fool all the people some of the time...." but there I go again.

OK dailyreader whatever, because that rambling non-sense made less sense than your previous attempt.

Try writing the things down in your head and then find some poor sap to listen to what you wrote and get advice before you post it because you don't flow making your arguments at all.

And seriously, it was Lincoln who said you can fool all the people some of the time...." and not Reagan.

Are you that bad off you can't even find the right source of a quote when you search the internet for some obscure passage to quote on the Courier website?

Seriously, no one listens to your bable anyway. If we wanted to read that non-sense we would just look on the internet at the liberal websites you peruse. Then you wouldn't have to cut, copy and paste it on this site.
October 18, 2010 at 4:37pm
From article: “Obama Care absolutely should be repealed,” --the other article referencing the MTSU poll indicated only 48% felt this way which leaves 52% either favoring or undecided on healthcare--sounds like not everyone is jumping on the band wagon.

GOP--your "You forget the fact that when our country has prospered the most it was under Republican Preseidents and when it has been worse economically and morally it has been under the control of the Democrats."

And that is why Republican presidents have almost across the board for the last sixty or so years ranked lower--much lower as presidents then Democrats??????????

GOP: please note my "with reference to the Reagan vote" --the quote that followed explained Reagan's vote, sorry you were unable to follow but I suppose it was too subtle....
October 18, 2010 at 6:03pm
I made this quote before so as one old fool once said " it takes democrats to elect a democrat but it takes democrats and republicans to elect a republican. So if your a little slow, if democrats always agreed and voted there would not be a republican party.

its my opinion, so just an opinion, but wacko liberals like reader make us independents go right--bible thumpin conservatives make us go left, so while fools ramble, do they ever wonder "whose cause am I helpin?" I dont think so but just ramblings of another ole fool.

I only hope sometime in the next two years that the TEA Party will try to organize in this county. I wouldn't give a Democrat politician a glass of water if they were on fire; but I can't support a Republican since they abandoned the entire Congressional district in 2008.

dailyreader you can claim that Republican Presidents are ranked lower than the Democratic Presidents over the last 90 years, but I have no doubt you found that fact from one of your liberal websites you have in your repertoire. I also know that the American people elected those Republican Presidents, so the people must have wanted them. Most of them were elected to multiple terms.

And honestly, who cares what any President has ever been ranked anyway. It means as much as the BCS rankings in College football do.

No one cares about rankings. What we care about is the economy, un-employment, creation of jobs, health care that doesn't bankrupt the county and fixes the problems instead of creating more.

Man you are a strange fellow. You bark and bark like a dog in the night and no one but you is listening.

I have said it before many times about you. Nothing you write about is a solution to any of the problems we face. You do nothing but blame and it makes you look like the "extremist" you love to call everyone else.

Stop being part of the problem and start working toward being part of the solution. The blame game just doesn't work anymore.

Matt Studd and his denunciation of liberals at this Republican Party meeting demonstrated a behavior the Founding Fathers foresaw if they did not include what Roger Williams (1644) phrased as “(a) hedge or wall of separation between the garden of the church and the wilderness of the world” to the Bill of Rights.

These men did not want religious fanatics wielding their power in the halls of Congress weaving their own fabric of religious beliefs into the governmental process.

Which leaves one to wonder–is the faith of the Studds and Davenports of this nation so weak and so poorly supported by their church and home life they must have the government prop it up with Bibles and prayers in schools along with the teaching of Creationism or they will descend into perdition?

Is their faith unable to sustain itself if women continue to have a right to choose or if same sex couples are joined in civil ceremonies?

No one can “stomp on your Christian heritage” –its your heritage and only you can do that. If you feel there is “an elite group that live in rebellion to God” or “thumb their nose and point their fist and celebrate everything He calls an abomination” they do no harm to you.

Jefferson recognized this fanaticism when he said “religion is a matter which is solely between man and his god, he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship.....”

"Is their faith unable to sustain itself if women continue to have a right to choose or if same sex couples are joined in civil ceremonies?"

What about those people who don't view it as a matter of faith, but still believe abortion is murder and that approval of unions of same sex couples will lead to the approval of unions of multiple couples, same sex or otherwise, people and animals, etc.?
October 21, 2010 at 2:18am
A fitting quote from an honorable man, Ronald Reagan addressing the matter of "Liberal Babling" that is in our midst.

"Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so."

Another regarding abortion;

"Each child who escapes the tragedy of abortion is an immeasurable victory."

While some Liberals won't help to defend our Nation's Christian Heritage and Liberties, they often do speak up to defend those of Muslims. Is this ignorance and hypocrisy running a muck or an obvious deliberate agenda?

Kirby Anderson reminds us of the clear hypocracy at play.

President Obama is quoted;

"But let me be clear. As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America. And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable."

It would have been nice to see the same unshakeable commitment to religious freedom earlier this year when a group of four Christian men were arrested for sharing their faith on a public sidewalk outside an Arab festival in Dearborn, Michigan.

Over the past several months we have seen people lose their jobs, be expelled from graduate studies programs and even be arrested, for peaceful but public displays of their Christian faith.

I agree it's time to ..... TAKE BACK AMERICA!

Leatherneck: "they often do speak up to defend those of Muslims---"

I am a firm believer in the rights set forth in our Constitution and Bill of Rights---some of course want to deny those rights to others, a self-righteousness found in racism and bigotry.

Jevin: "approval of unions of same sex couples will lead to the approval of unions......of people and animals, etc.?

Union of people and animals?? legalizing bestiality and performing civil ceremonies to proclaim a union?---and we have people of faith worrying about that?

Sounds like those who feel we have only been around 6,000 years and cavorted with T-Rex and maybe the earth is flat also.

Scare tactics bordering on crass foolishness--seems to me. But then what do I know, I am liberal Democrat.

Foolish you claim?

First Comes Gay Marriage then Comes Bestiality in Massachusetts

BOSTON, November 17, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Four legislators in Massachusetts are quickly following up on their success at legalizing homosexual unions by pushing for softening laws against other forms of sexual deviance. They have introduced a bill that proposes to reduce the penalties associated with the state’s criminal prohibition on sex acts with animals.

The four Democrat legislators, Cynthia S. Creem, Robert A. O'Leary, Michael E. Festa, David P. Linsky, are all vocal supporters of abortion, homosexual unions, and are all endorsed by all three of Massachusetts’ gay lobby groups.

Never fails too many [not all] wants their ideals to win in an extreme fashion.
I remember when the republicans had everything their way all to well.
The cost of doing business went through the roof and fascism ran rampid.
PAY PAY PAY, so much for everything that I could not build a home in Wilson county
Witch is where I work. By the time the 3000 impact tax and the installation of
“Their” ideal thought of what a septic system should be, my building budget went
Broke, By By Wilson. And as for their Codes and building police, you can have them.
Fascism has ruled out the middle class in that town.
As I pay 200 dollars in “CO-Payments for my medicine to keep my heart from exploding, I wonder what’s the use of even having good medical insurance these days [witch I do]. Good ole American greed leads to Bankruptcy every time.

These so called good republicans pushed the minimum standard of living to a level considered the filthy rich in most foreign countries. And we wonder why there are so many meth labs in our county? Duhhhhh. Where are the 20 dollar an hour jobs to match these modest apartments for rent? Or even a trailer place?
Dishonestly raising the value of goods has run rampid and that’s what brought people to the voting table for change. And believe me Extreme Democratic socialism will do the same thing in opposite, they will clobber the values of goods and make a Doctor live off the minimum wage if they could. Tent Cities anybody?
We as Americans do not like happy mediums for solutions; we only accept “Zero Tolerance” mind sets. Unfortunately people are NOT equal in their needs and are mentally wired different. The freedom of religion, Christians get over it, there are other religions, If I catch anyone at work telling someone their going to h$%% because they are not in compliance with “THEIR” way of thinking I WILL fire them on the spot for
“Prophanity”. When ever I come across a deity that tries to control the human mind’s way of thinking I immediately go into “Suspicious Criminal” mode towards that individual, for thought control is a far greater sin than all this foolish talk about gays.
It’s no ones business who anyone sleeps with out here. Especially the governments.
Now a happy medium would allow for extenuating circumstances and rationalization
for our citizens. If a school principal sent my daughter home on drug charges for having a dose of Ibuprofen I would pull her out of that school so fast it would make their head spin. Zero tolerance = Jail for the innocent.
Extreme Socialism scares me as much as extreme conservatives do, I vote independent, I research every candidate for fear of extremism and vote for the one that gives us the FREEDOM to choose with a happy medium. Libertarian slanted to the right?
If I had to wear a label that would be it.
However labels don't work, this 2 party system is a farce.
