Democratic Party Hides Truth About ObamaCare

I write in response to the ad that was paid for by the Democratic Party of Cannon County in last (this) week‘s Courier promoting the benefits of the Health Care Law passed by President Obama and the Democrats despite the overwhelming protest of the majority of American people.

I want to begin by saying I have many Democratic friends and family members. I respect their right to believe what they choose just as I hope they respect mine. We can just politely say that we will have to agree that we disagree on many fundamental aspects of politics when it comes to economics and morals. However, I can no longer sit back and allow statements to be made that are inaccurate and misleading on a health care bill that will affect all of our lives in ways that are still unknown.

One of my major problems with the bill is I believe it to be un-Constitutional. It totally disregards the 10th Amendment which clearly states that; “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”. I do not believe the framers of the Constitution intended the Federal Government of the United States to yield the power it has deemed it currently has. And that is why the provision was placed into our “Bill of Rights”.

If mandating health care in a way that forces you and me to purchase it resides with the Federal Government, then what is left to stop them from mandating we all stop eating red meat because it is un-healthy? What is left to stop them from mandating we all drink water instead of drinks that are high in caffeine or fructose syrup? My question is, where does it end? When does enough become enough? I believe the Health Care Law to be the foot in the door that could lead to further mandates into all of our lives.

For the record, I believe that health care needed reform. I believe it should be made cheaper, accessible and transparent to all Americans. However, I don’t believe it to be a right or an entitlement like many people do.  I think it should be made available to the people who truly need it and to the people who make positive contributions to our society by working and paying taxes. I don’t think it should be a “right” or “entitlement” to people who choose not to work but are capable of working. That is one of the primary problems we face as a nation today. Living off the government is easier than working for a living. So why wouldn’t people choose that path when we make it so easy for them to do? And as was told to me by a man last week, “you can’t give a person into prosperity”.

Congress should have studied, debated and revised several different bills before passing health care reform. Instead, the American people were given a bill that was over 2400 pages long and makes health care worse.  The outcome is we have a Health Care Bill no one truly understands and that was forced upon us despite the majority being against it. Do you realize the Constitution of the United States has 4,608 words that are written on four pages of parchment and that is the foundation you and I have lived under for over 200 years? What does that say about the Congress we have running our country now?

I end by giving you these facts about the Health Care Law that was conveniently left out in the ad the Democratic Party of Cannon County  ran last week:

1. As written, the law covers elective abortions despite Obama’s promise it would not.

2. The law will increase insurance premiums due to the law stipulating coverage for children up to the age of 26. Estimates are as high as 9%.

3. According to Medicare’s actuary, the Health Care Law will increase costs and not decrease costs as implied by the Obama administration.

4. Obamacare will force seasonal employers (a.k.a. temporary agency’s) to   pay huge fines, cut hours or lay off employees.

5. Obamacare allows the IRS to confiscate part or all of your tax refund if you do not purchase a “qualified” insurance plan.

6. Obamacare won't allow employees or most small businesses to keep the coverage they have and like. By Obama's own official estimates, as many as 69 percent of employees, 80 percent of small businesses, and 64 percent of large businesses will be forced to change coverage, probably to more expensive plans.

Source: Washington Examiner September 22nd, 2010.

These are just a few of the things that the Democratic Party does not want you to know or understand about the Health Care Law.

My suggestion to all of you is to educate yourself and learn how the bill is going to affect you. Don’t take my words or the Democratic Party’s ad as gospel. And then I suggest you vote for the people who will best represent what is factual and not just unfounded information.

Respectfully,

Corey Davenport

I don't know what planet this guy fell off of but, the Republican Party has never done anything for the working man. Just the other day, all the Republican's did not vote for the bill to help small business. All they are for is Oil Companies, Rail Road and other big business. Thankfully it was passed by the Democrats.

Social Security, Medicare, GI Bill, Small Business Administration, Veteran Health Benefits have all been protected and passed as law by the Democrats.

An employer always has the say so what insurance, what coverage and how much you will pay. And they can also at any time just do away with your insurance. So what are you complaining about? We should had health care coverage for everyone more than 20 years ago. But, every time a Republican gets elected it sets you back 10-20 years and then when the Democrats get in they get all the blame. Who in their right mind would not want health care for their family at a decent price.

As far as taxes go, out of 30 industrial countries we rank # 27 on overall taxes we pay. So it is very little.

Thank you George Bush for land and home values being at all all time low. Remember when Ronald Reagan was President we had the highest unemployment then.

Harry Truman said it best, "If you want to live like a Republican vote DEMOCRAT."

It is very good to see that there now is a TOPIC for folks to discuss political issues. Intelligent political debate is good. The American Way.Informed, intelligent people debating politics. However,I hope this TOPIC has has it's immunization shots against the rampant DISEASE spreading like wildfire among the TOPICS. The disease of which I speak is "insane political rambling". This is a very malicious and downright PERNICIOUS disease, capable of infecting even the most innocent TOPICS,and mutating them into an "insane political rambling" filled wasteland.Good INTELLIGENT political debate is great for the country, but like the baldheaded lady (I believe her name was Susan Powter) once said,"STOP THE INSANITY".one last note,OneBadAwfulMistakeAmerica! nuff said!

So what did Davenport expect from the Washington Examiner--a flat out endorsement of Obama's healthcare act--.
And here are a few things about the Examiner Davenport did not want you to know.

"The Examiner's editorial and opinion pages are under the guidance of Heritage Foundation senior fellow Mark Tapscott, and all of the paper's regular political columnists -- among them Michael Reagan (who has smeared President Obama as a Nazi) and right-wing think-tanker Jay Ambrose -- are on the right side of the spectrum. Liberal opinions, when they are allowed to appear at all, are mostly confined to letters to the editor.

With such an ideologically stacked crew, it's not surprising that the Examiner has become a transmitter of conservative misinformation:

-- An editorial claimed that "Obama has demanded that the Pentagon trim its budget request by an astonishing 10 percent," failing to note that Obama's budget target is still $14 billion above the Pentagon's current budget.

-- One edition of its weekly "10 worst ideas of the week" -- populated almost exclusively by liberals and liberal ideas -- featured in first place the bogus claim that a provision in the stimulus bill funding construction on college campuses bars religious expression; the fifth-place item echoed the distorted claim that the Employee Free Choice Act will "end secret ballots on union representation elections."

-- A "special report" attacking ACORN was centered around the false claim by local opinion editor Barbara Hollingsworth that the stimulus bill "gives ACORN access to a $4.19 billion pot of money." In fact, the stimulus bill doesn't even mention ACORN by name, let alone allocate money to the group, and ACORN CEO Bertha Lewis has stated: "ACORN isn't getting any of this money ... we aren't eligible for it in the first place." Hollingsworth repeated the false claim a couple weeks later.

-- Numerous columns and editorials touted a study claiming that "every three percentage point gain in union membership would be accompanied by a one percentage point increase in the unemployment rate the following year" without mentioning that the study was funded by anti-union groups."

Democratic Candidates Against ObamaCare Spend 3 Times More on Ads

Democratic candidates are spending three times more advertising against the health reform law than they are in support of it.

Since the beginning of Congress’s August recess, Democratic candidates have poured $930,000 into ads deriding the health overhaul but just $300,000 in pro-reform spots, according to Evan Tracey at Kantar Media.

Mr. Davenport. Why not put your title as Co-Chairman or the Cannon County Republican Party with your name and address? It would then be easier to understand hou you come to the 'opinion' that your 'facts' are correct. One thing you regilious {mostley hypocrites}nuts need to understand is some of us vote for political canadates to run our governmental offices, not to preach to us. If morality in politicans is what you want, it would be hard to find many qualified canidates in either party.

To dmm49: Why should everyone have health insurance? Since when is that a right? Should everyone also have a cell phone? A car? Who decides the type of phone or car and whether or not they are "good enough"? The government?

I would love to have health care coverage for our family at a "decent price" as you call it. But thanks to this disastrous bill, our premiums went from zero to almost $700/month, matched only by the deductibles which soared thousands of dollars a year.

Employers are NOT free to choose which plans they want to offer. The government decides that for them. And if we, the people, do not have the insurance we can't afford, we could be fined or even jailed. I am not enjoying my hope and change.

If one "reform" supporter can explain to me why everyone deserves to have free or cheap health insurance, I would love to listen. My family is going broke thanks to this great reform.

Interesting --is this a private plan or thru a company that you work for---what insurance company insures you and your family--exacting when did your premiums go from almost zero (what were they actually) to almost $700 (exactly what are they)--how much did the deductibles change and in what areas did deductibles soar to thousands of dollars a year--

let us see the numbers so all doubt can be erased -- OK?

I might add my premiums went from absolutely zero dollare per month to $422/per month under Bush.

Mr. Mingle I am unclear on how you think the Republican party has never done anything to "help the working man" considering the Republican party was responsible for freeing the slaves that the Democratic Party held in bondage for years and years. Does the Civil War your party was responsible for ring a bell?

How about these laws you Democrats conviently forget that were passed by Republicans:

Food and Drug Act, Meat Inspection Act,the 15th Ammendment to the Constitution which guaranteed voting rights regardless of race, creed or color, the 19th Ammendment which gave women the right to vote, the Homestead Act, the FIRST civil rights bill was passed in 1866 by the Republicans recognizing blacks as citizens of the United States. And the list goes on and on and I don't have enough time or room to list them all.

Also, when Reagan took over office in 1980 the country was not only in an economic depression brought on by the ineffective Democratically controlled Congress and an inept President Carter, interest rates were at an all time high of 13% to 15%.

Unemployment was just like it is now hovering around 10% to 12%, we were in an oil crisis with gas lines for miles and Americans had been held hostage for 444 days by a terrorist organization.

Ronald Reagan did more for our country the first week he was in office than your beloved Democrats and Jimmy Carter did in the four long years they drove the country into the ground. By the time Reagan left office the unemployment rate had dropped drastically, interest rates were 6% to 8%, and your taxes were at a low not seen in years.

And honestly, you must be blind and deaf if you can't see what shape our country is economically right now after four long and useless years of Democratic control of Congress and two years of a pathetic President who is nothing more than a Socialist.

You seriously need to read your history and get your facts straight before you continue to make yourself look like you have no clue about what you are talking about.

You talk of Harry Truman, but I talk about Mark Twain because he actually said it best:

"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But, I repeat myself".

Nothing better describes the Democratically controlled Congress better than that.

Here are some more great Harry S.Truman quotes:
“If you can't convince them, confuse them.”

Now we know where Pelosi gained her doctrine from! Be careful who you quote from it might just "confuse" things!

Bolo, considering the rampant vandalism in the area, anyone who prints their address is taking a dangerous risk when politics is discussed. I WANTED a McCain-Palin sign on my barn in 2008 but didn't want it burned to the ground with my children's horses inside.
I WANTED a "W" windshield sticker in 2004, but didn't want my vehicle keyed, tires slashed, or every window smashed out OR Kerry supporters blinding me with their highbeams in my rear window all the way home.
Every one of those things have to be taken into serious consideration when you live in a county where the ONLY safe choice is to keep a loaded shotgun beside your bed, because police can't arrive in less than 15 minutes. It actually surprises me to see as many Republican signs in people's front yards as I do.

We need to abolish both partys and people vote for the person and not the party affiliation.
October 15, 2010 at 10:09am
We can argue all day about which party has done good or bad things for our nation and both sides can back up our claims with examples. However, I'm afraid much of what's on here deviates from the real point, that being that the people of the United States are looking down the barrel of a $940 BILLION health care bill we can't afford! In their ad the Dems say that this will be paid for by the big insurance & pharmaceutical companies. What do you think will happen when heavy taxes & fees are levied on these companies?! They're going to pass that on to you the consumer! In their ad the Dems didn't show you all the taxes that are a part of this bill that will be directly levied on individuals. http://americasright.com/?p=5239 Yes, this is a link that is put out by the right, but when it's fact it's fact no matter who puts it out and this is not even a complete listing of all of the new taxes! Here's another right wing opinion that was printed in a paper with a left leaning, the New York Times, by a gentleman who knows what he's talking about if you research his qualifications to speak on the issue http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/21/opinion/21holtz-eakin.html
To dmm49: you said, "As far as taxes go, out of 30 industrial countries we rank #27 on overall taxes we pay. So it is very little." What is your point? Should we sit by and be like, "Oh, we rank so low on paying taxes in the industrialized world we should do something to raise our taxes, because afterall, we would like to push that # more toward #1 rather than #30!" We all know that's ludicrous!
If higher taxes & health care costs are what you're looking for in a candidate then make sure you remember that list of names on the Dem ad when you're in the voting booth....Don't be fooled that someone other than hard working Americans will pay that $940 Billion tab....

David --- There is a very recent list of the 20 reasons our economy is where it is today --- George Bush policies are around 18 or 19 on the list. It is unfair to blame him as a president -- but -- if you are an Obama fan, I guess that come natural. I have been registered as democrat since the 70's -- but I am very conservative and will cross party lines when voting. I defiantly don't drink cool-aid when told to!!!

Our housing market collapse is the result of liberal legislation pushed by law liberal federal law makers wanting to put a chicken in every pot and people in homes that could not afford them. Liberal loan policies set us on the track for a housing market break down in which folks just had homes they could not pay for either because of fraudulent loan documentation or just pushing the envelope buying more house than they could afford --- or buying when they should be renting. ----- Don't blame Bush for that --- or John McCain because they both resisted the liberal effort lobbied by none other than the Realtor Association of which I have been a part of for years.

Obama care sucks --- The stimulus programs haven't worked, the recession -- is supposedly over, but we continue to struggle and real estate is flat despite the lowest interest rates since Eisenhower. How to we get out of the mess ----- I think the answer is Regan Economics and ending any and all efforts to socialize our country –

I am also sick of the “personal” attack ads on Republicans who are offering new ideas -- both in and out of our voting area ---- for example ---- listen to one --- about the Republican opponent of Congressman Davis ---- How do you FIRE an UNLOADED gun --- Listen to the words in these attack ads --- "alleged", "reportedly", and again "fired an unloaded gun" ---- How do you do that? Where are case and docket numbers and proof that any of these ads are true. --------------- I really don't care how you vote, but I will cross party lines. I know Mea Beavers has fought against a state income tax -- for that she has my vote. --- I love Stratton Bone --- I will vote for him. I will not vote for a Democratic for ANY Federal office --- and I really hope that Mitt Romney has an interest in running for president in 2012 --- He is a Mormon – so what! We need somebody with a positive track record of getting things done to get us out of the mess! Mitt Romney has that record and I would be curious to see where we would be economically today if he had been elect president.
