I, Michael D. Nichols, am announcing my candidacy for Trustee. I have lived in the Bradyville community most of my adult life and was raised in the Doolittle community. I am married to Kim (Jernigan) Nichols. We have a four year old daughter, Zoe. I am the son of Betty Gilley and the late Douglas Nichols.

I graduated from Cannon County High School and Murfreesboro Vocational Technology Center with a degree in Industrial Maintenance, which also included computer training. I certainly sympathize with any of you who’ve had to seek employment outside the county or if you’ve had job loss during the latest recession. I’ve had several long-term jobs in industry outside the county that ended either in a lay-off, plant transfer or closing. I have thought in the past about running for public office but my circumstances at the time would not allow me to do so. My circumstances have changed because of my unemployment. I have made the decisions after much consideration to pursue this path of public office while I am still skilled and young enough to make a positive difference at the same time making a living for my family. I know I can improve the efficiency of the Trustee’s office by updating the way business transactions are done.

If elected, I do pledge that I will perform the job of Trustee to the best of my ability. I will be trustworthy and efficient in executing my duties. I will treat all citizens with respect and fairness.

I hope to see each of you prior to the August 5, 2010 election day. However, if I am unable to see you, I ask for and will appreciate your vote.
