BLOOD DRIVE: You are invited to celebrate Red Cross Month by donating blood on Thursday, March 18, from noon to 6 p.m. at Lions Club Building located at 540 W. Adams St. in Woodbury.

REGISTRATION: Woodbury Day School is accepting applications for fall registration. WDS is a Tuesday-Thursday school located at the Woodbury Church of Christ. Hours are 8:30 until 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for children ages 2 to 5. Applications can be picked up at the WDS office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-2:00, in the Woodbury Church of Christ office, or online at woodburychurchofchrist.org. ELECTION WORKERS: The Cannon County Election Commission is seeking early voting and election day workers. The dates of elections are Aug. 5 and Nov. 2. There will be mandatory training for all elections. If you have worked elections in the past or would like to work one now, and are at least 17 years of age, and live in Cannon County, please contact the Election Office at 563-5650 or go to the office at 301 W. Main St. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

SPRING FLING: Join the Football Boosters for their annual Spring Fling CCHS Football Booster Club Spring Fling Coed Softball Tournament Fundraiser will be held March 26 and 27. It will be located at the Cannon County Dixie Youth Fields. You must be 18 or older to play. You can have up to 12 players on your roster. Play: 5 men/5 women on the field. BIRD FAIR: The Heart of Tennessee Aviculture Society will hold an exotic bird fair and sale at the MTSU Livestock Center March 20-21. For information call 615-396-8440 or tnma2@comcast.net.

EARTHDAY: There will be an Earthday Festival held at Cumberland Caverns on April 22,23 &24. Presented by Mellow Mood Day Spa and sponsored by Dr. Rone, Dr. Pepper, Foodland Plus and Kroger. It will be 3 days of Green and Music. Vendors from all over the Middle TN. area. The King’s Garden Nursery will be giving free plants to the first 30 customers daily. Lisa Bedner (Herblist) from Pipsissewa Herbs will speak on Natural Pest Control. Too many events to mention. A detailed brochure can be picked up at the business locations mentioned. Other Vendors at the event will be: Songs Herbals, Tennessee State Unversity Research Center, Party Pro’s , Two Feather Trading Post, Wood-Stone Custom Carving, DLG Livestock, Cub Scout Pack 89, Well spring Book Store, Fun-T’s, Booths will open at 9:30 am daily. There will be music performed by numerous local artist through out the 3 day event. Terry Hodges, Trapper Haskins, The Company I Keep, Aprils Monkey, Joe Harvey and Tuesday Night Prophets. CENSUS JOBS: Workers are needed by the U.S. Census Bureau for the 2010 census. Census taker schedules include from 20 to 40 hours of work per week. Positions require interviewing the public, so applicants must be able to work when people are at home, such as in the evening or on weekends. NEW NUMBER: The Murfreesboro Social Security Office is changing their phone system to a Voice over Internet Protocol system as a cost cutting measure. This switch will require a change in our phone number. The new number is 866-593-3112. Calls to this number will be considered local in Rutherford and Cannon counties even though you must dial all 9 numbers. The new number will offer automated services 24 hours a day for those receiving benefits.

HUNTER ED: There will be a Hunter Education Class at the Auburntown Community Center beginning March 22, 2010 at 6 p.m. It will continue on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of the same week. It’s free to the public and no preregistration is required. Students must be at least 9 years old to attend and must provide their social security number. RESERVE NOW: There are still a few openings for the Annual Waterfall Tour on Sat., March 20th, sponsored by the Friends of Edgar Evins State Park, near Smithville. Ride vans to selected area waterfalls. This may be a last chance to visit the endangered Cummings Falls which is now up for sale, and a couple more. We’ll eat lunch at a restaurant about noon. There will be short walks on uneven terrain so wear appropriate footwear. Cost $10 person, plus the cost of your own lunch. Advance reservations only! For more information on assistance and support, please contact Melissa Allison at the Upper Cumberland Developments District toll free at 1-877-275-8233. Adult relative support group meetings are held, every FOURTH Wednesday, of each month, from 10:30 - 11:30AM. It will be held at the Woodbury Church of Christ, 100 East Water Street, Woodbury, TN.
