Lionettes, Lions Lumber To Wins Over Forrest

Cannon County High's basketball teams recorded a sweep of Forrest High at home Monday night, but their visiting opponents each put up a good battle.

The Lionettes won 61-50 as Emily Sissom led the way with 24 points and Ashley Campbell and Taylor King added 10 each.

Cannon County improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season with the victory.

The Lionettes led 19-11 after the first quarter and 33-28 at the half. Cannon County stretched it lead to 44-35 entering the final period.

The Lions raced out to an early lead en route to a 58-56 triumph. Cannon County held a 20-9 at the end of one before Forrest closed the gap to 31-26 at intermission. The Lions held a slim 41-40 lead entering the final stanza but were able to hold in for their sixth win of the season against two losses.
