History of Gassaway to be explored

The Cannon County Historial Society will meet Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jennings Community Room of Adams Memorial Library.


Gary Hancock will be the featured speaker. He will speak on the Gassaway community and area, past and present. Gassaway is one of the most picturesque places in Cannon County and is of much historical interest.


Hancock will talk about the three area churches, the former bank, funeral home, old grist mill, the old foot bridge, the former stores and much more.


Gary is the son of James and the late JoAnn Hancock. He is married to the former Jamie Dutton. They have two children, Emily and Matthew and two grandsons.


The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with snacks and refreshments. Please bring your favorites and enjoy the fellowship, said Joe Davenport, president.
