Freshmen Lions Notch Three Wins

Cannon County's boys basketball future is bright.

The Lions freshmen continued their undefeated run with three impressive victories last week. Cannon County turned back Riverdale (70-54), Tullahoma (53-51) and Cookeville (49-48).

Jacob Nave poured in 25 points on 12-of-14 shooting to lead the Lions to their win against Riverdale. Garrett McReynolds added 15, A.J. Daniel 10 and Josh Ruehlen seven to key the freshmen Lions' victory.

Cannon County jumped out to a 39-20 halftime lead and never looked back as it picked up the impressive road win.

Against Tullahoma, Garrett McReynolds continued his fine season with 15 points and Jacob Nave added 10 as Cannon County secured the win. Josh Ruehlen finished with six points.

Garrett McReynolds led Cannon County with 16 points, Reagan Scott added 13 and Jacob Nave nine as the Lions turned back Cookeville, 39-38.

In girls junior varsity action, Cannon County received 16 points from Madison Walkup, 11 from Madi Simons and 10 from Paulani Tawara netted 10 to lead the Lionettes to a 57-15 win against Tullahoma.

Kristen Hale led a balanced attack with 11 points as Cannon County turned back Cookeville, 55-27, in junior varsity action. Macy Clements, Madi Simons, Kaylee Hayes and Erin McReynolds each scored seven, Arianna Kailiponi added six, and Paulani Tawara and Taylor Warren each scored five.
