The 2009 Cannon County Lions football team and all who supported them this season were honored Monday evening with a banquet at The First Baptist Church of Woodbury.

Heartfelt speeches from each of the coaches were followed by the presentation of individual awards. Cheerleaders, water crew, ball boy, booster club, and everyone else who helped make 2009 such a great season for Cannon County football were recognized.

The Lions season was highlighted by their first district championship since 1978 and first playoff appearance since 1995.

Head Coach Joel Schrenk concluded the ceremonies by addressing the underclassmen who will remain with the Lions for the 2010 season, urging them to keep the upcoming season on their minds and to rise to the example set by the 2009 team.
