Early voting finishes strong

The final day of early voting in Cannon County for the August 2 County General Election and State Primary saw the most number of votes cast during the 14-day period.

On Saturday, July 28, 176 people voted. That was the most since the first day, July 13, when 165 voted.

Cannon County currently has 8,427 registered voters. There were 1,822 votes cast during the 14-day early voting period.

By comparison, there were 1,854 early voters in the 2014 County General Election and 2,267 cast on election day, for a combined total of 4,121. In August of 2014 there were 8,683 registered voters, 256 more than now.

Polling places which will be open on election day Thursday (Aug. 2) are at West Side Elementary, Auburntown Community Center, Gassaway Community Center, Woodbury Grammar School, Short Mountain Elementary School, Woodland Elementary School and East Side Elementary School.
