Defendants Indicted By Grand Jury Enter Pleas

Thursday marked plea day for those persons indicted during the January, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury. Those defendants appearing on Thursday’s docket included:

Anthony Adamson was reset for April 9, 2010. He is charged with 25 counts of rape, 20 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, 5 counts of coercion of a witness and 5 counts of delivery of marijuana.

Paul Warren pled guilty to the charge of misapplication of contract payments. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison. That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation and paying court costs and restitution.

Janice Adrian entered a conditional plea of guilty to the charge of theft over $500.00. She was placed on State Supervised Probation for 2 years. In addition, she was ordered to pay the court costs and restitution to the victim.

James Lee Pendergrass was reset until May 18, 2010. He is charged with driving while license suspended, violation of the open container law, speeding and financial responsibility violation.

Steven Hollis pled guilty to the charge of burglary. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison. In another case, Hollis pled guilty to the charge of vandalism under $500.00 and he was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. A suspended sentence hearing was set for May 7, 2010.

Ethan Cord Taylor pled guilty to the charges of 2 counts of aggravated burglary and theft under $500.00. He was sentenced to a total for 4 years in prison and a suspended sentence hearing was scheduled for May 7, 2010.

Benjamin Yuk Lin Liau pled guilty to the charges of criminal attempt to introduce contraband into a penal institution and failure to appear. He was sentenced to a total of 3 years in prison as a standard 30 percent offender and ordered to serve his entire sentence.

Brian Alan Stafford pled guilty to three counts of theft over $1,000.00. He was sentenced to a total of 3 years in prison. A suspended sentence hearing was schedule for May 7, 2010.

Michael Wayne Ragan pled guilty to the charge of four counts of theft over $1,000.00. He was sentenced to a total of 3 years in prison and ordered to serve his entire sentence. In another case, Ragan pled guilty to the charge of vandalism under $500.00. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in jail and ordered to serve his entire sentence.

Melissa Archey entered a conditional plea of guilty to theft over $500.00. She was placed on probation for 2 years and ordered to pay the court costs and restitution.

Vickie Marsh pled guilty to the charge of driving under the influence. She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $350.00 fine, serving 48 hours in jail and paying the court costs. In addition, she will lose her driver’s license for 1 year. In another case, Marsh pled guilty to the charge of driving without a license. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail. That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $2.00 fine and paying the court costs.

The defendants who did not enter pleas today will have their cases set for trial. Those trials will take place over the next several months unless a plea agreement is reached.
