Drug Charges

Multiple charges were filed against a Woodbury man following a shooting at a home on Morgan Avenue.

Paul Lewis Nicholson, 36, was charged with knowingly giving alcohol to an underaged female and possession of methanphetamine following an investigation by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department

Gun shot victim Luke Barton of Smyrna was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital for treatment.

Deputies were traveling south on Jim Cummings when they observed a BMW parked in the in-bound shoulder of Jim Cummings and Morgan Avenue. Officers were approaching the vehicle when they noticed a man walking across the roadway headed toward the vehicle. The man, later identified as Luke Barton, told officers he had been shot. Two other men, Vincent Pagano III and Dillon Jackson, also approached officers.

The men told officers they were looking for an underage female who had been texting them apparently seeking help. They had previously been to Nicholson's house but he told them the girl had left an hour earlier.

The underage female told officers she had gone to Nicholson's house "to hang out and to catch up, since they were old friends."

Entering the house on Morgan Avenue, officers found a shotgun on the kitchen floor and a pistol was discovered on a dresser in the back bedroom.

Nicholson admitted firing a shot from the pistol, hitting the refrigerator.
