It was a "White Possum" weekend. Friday night, Ruth and Marvin Davenport, Robbie Owen and P-pa and I enjoyed our weekly feeding at this restaurant in Smithville. Then Saturday it was back up there with Tim, DeAnna, Alayna and Adrianna Reed and Case Isenhart.

A picture ran in last week's edition of the "Courier" showing two well known personalities from this community. Both have since left this world - Bunt Cooper and Ross Leach better known as  "Juicy" or "Juice" for short. Juicy was well known mostly for his colloquialisms (look that one up). You might say he was Auburn's Yoggi Berra! I have heard a few of these and will relate one in each column beginning with this one.

The first one was told to me by Mr. Tom Allen: It was a wet and rainy summer. The local gathering of the farmers were at Bunt's Garage. While sitting around one day, Mr. Ernest Fite made the comment, "Some sunshine sure would be good" to which Juicy replied, "Sunshine is good but moonshine is better, it makes you talk a lot."

If you have any you would like to relate to me, please do so at the below info.

Celebrating birthdays this week are Catie Adams who hits "Sweet Sixteen" on the 16th the same day Ed Hays, Tyler Hickey, Jack Campbell, and  Peal Hale all celebrate but different years. John Moore has his the 17th. Tim Reed hits his 42nd year on the 18th the same day Allison Higgins enters the adult world and S. E. Hale puts on a year. The 22nd is the day Rebekah Bryan Tate, David Reed (oh my, he hits the 56 mark), Tommy Melton and Dean Vantrease all have their days. Happy birthday to all of you.

It's the 7th year anniversary for Jim and Donna Sherrell. Happy anniversary you two.
