Prayers and love to Vivian Gilley Thomas on the sudden death of her husband, Mike. Vivian graduated from Auburn High School in 1964. It was so good to see them at our 50th year high school reunion held in May.

Also the same to Bonnie Rigsby whose 93-year-old mother passed away Monday.

Congratulations to Cindy Larson and DeAnna Reed on being selected as Teachers of the Year at Auburn Grammar.

The Auburntown Historical Society will meet at the Auburntown Church of Christ Fellowship Hall February 19, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The guest speaker is Andrea Calfee. Andrea is the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Chapter Regent for the Col. Hardy Murfree Chapter. She has held this position since 2011 and the DAR State Commemorative Events chairman. She and her husband John moved to Murfreesboro from Ohio in 2001.

Andrea is a member of the Rutherford County Historical Society and the Rutherford County Sheriff's Citizens Academy Alumni Association. She is a graduate of Vassar College with an Art History major and has worked in the field of historic preservation and city planning. She has been married to John for 47 years.

Mrs. Calfee will speak on "Today's DAR". This will be an opportunity for the community to learn the qualifications of becoming a DAR member. The DAR is made up of ladies who had an ancestor serving in the American Revolutionary Army fighting for America's freedom from England.

It was the 13th annual Men's Cake Bake at Prosperity Baptist Church Saturday the 24th. Many good and beautiful entries. The judges were hard pressed to pick the winners but 3rd place winner was Nick Nokes, Jr with his caramel cake. Getting the 2nd place recognition was Derrick Satterfield with this butter peace. Taking top honors with his German chocolate masterpiece was Kevin Halstead. Ladies of the church prepared soups and sandwiches to complement the sweets.

The above event kicked off the Baptist Men's Day on Sunday. The men filled the choir and speaking were Mike Allen, Dave Buterbaugh and Alan Hayes at the morning service and Tim Reed, Daniel Buterbaugh and Ted Ray at the evening service.
