Young To Serve Six Years For Making Meth



A Cannon County man will serve six years in prison following his guilty plea to a meth-making charge in Cannon County Circuit Court Friday (Feb. 10).

Wesley T. Young pled guilty to one count of Manufacture Of Methamphetamine Under .5 Grams. In addition to prison time, Judge Don Ash ordered Young to pay a $2,000 and court costs. Charges of Simple Possession and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia were dismissed.

Two co-defendants also pled guilty to charges stemming from the case, which began on Thanksgiving Day of last year when Woodbury officers Sgt. John House and Patrolman John Fesmire went to a Belle Hill Lane residence as part of an investigation into the theft of a stolen 4-wheeler.

The 4-wheeler was recovered at the address by the Woodbury officers. During the course or the arrest a one-pot meth lab was discovered, at which point officers with the Cannon County Sheriff's Department, including Deputy Steve McMillen and Investigator Anthony Young, were called to the scene.

Timmy Young, Wesley’s father, pled guilty to Maintaining A Dwelling To Manufacture Methamphetamine. He received a 4 year suspended sentence, equal time on state supervised probation, a $1,000 fine and was ordered to pay court costs. Timmy Young also pled guilty to Simple Possession Of Marijuana and received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and equal time on probation. He was also fined $250 and assessed court cost. The sentences will run concurrent.

The third defendant in the case, Pamela Leath, pled guilty to Maintaining A Dwelling To Manufacture Methamphetamine and Simple Possession Of Marijuana. She received a 4 years suspended sentence, equal probation time, a $1,000 fine and court costs on the first count, and a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal time on probation, a $250 fine and court costs on the second. The sentence will run concurrent.
