Woodland student wins third place

This past fall, the Tennessee Secretary of State's office held an essay contest to encourage students to be actively engaged citizens. Students were asked to write about voting with length requirements varying by grade level. Woodland second grade student, Emily Parker, won third in her grade level.
On February 22, she and her parents traveled to the state capitol to take a tour of the capitol building and to meet with Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett. During an awards ceremony in the old Tennessee Supreme Court chamber, she was also greeted by Representative Mark Pody.
