Multiple charges were filed against a man accused of possessing a variety of illegal drugs during a traffic stop Monday night on Old Woodbury Highway, a Rutherford County sheriff’s sergeant reported.

Suspect Chadwick D. Herrod, 27, of U.S. Highway 70 South (John Bragg Highway) in Woodbury was charged with possession of Schedule I, II, III and IV drugs by Sgt. Ty Downing.

After stopping Herrod, Downing asked if he had a weapon. Herrod replied he had a pocketknife and two bottles of prescription medications without labels, including Lortab and Roxycodone.

While arresting Herrod for possessing the medications, Downing searched his vehicle and found a pschlicyban plant, 48 Xanax bars, digital scales and plastic bags. Herrod carried $2,032 cash.

“He stated that he had just completed a construction job but could not provide a name and contact number for the person who paid him,” Downing reported.

Narcotics Detectives Jerremy Weaver and Sedric Fields confiscated the cash.

Herrod was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where a hearing was set Aug. 26 in General Sessions Court.
