West: Tired of politics on Facebook

Well, it's official. The online world is crazy. Maybe I should be more specific? How's this? Some of the users of Facebook have absolutely gone off the deep end.

Don't get me wrong. Facebook is a great way to keep up with friends and acquaintances. I have managed to get back in touch with a long list of "lost" friends who have moved to other parts of the country. It's great!

But because of the upcoming presidential election and other issues, Facebook (and similar applications) are losing their friendly focus.

I'm growing very tired of the continual rants about Trump and/or Clinton. Most of them are half-truths at best and a large portion of those postings have no link to reality. Both of them seem despicable ... terrible people ... but in reality I'm sure the opposite is true.

But I'm sure that by the time the actual election rolls around, I won't be interested in voting for either of them.

Trouble is this sort of campaigning is beginning to trickle down to state races.

The U.S. Congress race is a perfect example of campaigning via internet.

Have you seen either 6th District candidate in Cannon County? Guess not... But check out the internet and wow!

And then there's all the internet links related to the ongoing series of police-related shootings. It is horrible so many police officers are being shot. And I can't imagine what it must be like for officers and their family members. But for every one pro-police postings you see, there's five boasting about the shootings. That's absolutely nuts!

I know that it's July and everything is hot as blue-blazes, but all you Facebook fans need to cool it. Take a chill pill!

Go back to posting silly cat photos.Or play Pokemon Go. Give politics a rest!
