TUESDAY, MARCH 1 is the date of the "Super Tuesday" presidential primary in Tennessee.

Also on the ballot are two questions for Cannon County voters in a countywide general election. First is a sales tax referendum, which if passed, will increase the local sales and use tax rate from 1.75 percent to 2.75 percent. Second is a Wheel Tax Referendum, which increases the local wheel tax from $50 to $70, with the $20 increased proceeds dedicated to the Cannon County General Fund.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Remember, voters will have to show proof of identification on Tuesday.

A voter must have a Tennessee or Federal government issued photo ID. If no photo identification is provided, the voter will vote a provisional ballot and the voter will have until two business days after the election to return to the election commission office and show a valid photo I.D. or the ballot will be rejected. Forms of acceptable identification (even expired) include a Tennessee Driver's License with your photo, United States Passport, Department of Safety photo ID, Photo issued by the Federal or Tennessee state government, United States Military photo ID or Gun permit card with your photo. The voter can sign an oath stating he/she is indigent or have a religious objection to being photographed.
