Well, how the heck are all of you out there this week? Things are really picking up at the Short Mountain Trading Post. my head is spinning and our Family Fun Flea Market is this Saturday May 2. (Remember, I write my column a week ahead of when it is published, so at times our events have already happened even though I mention them in text.) As a matter of fact, we just missed getting hit with a very nasty tornado situation yesterday and today it is chilly and misty out. Honestly, I need to shake Mother Nature a good one for all this crazy weather. I just might shake Father Time while I am at it. I am getting too old too fast! Why don't I just shake both of them for all of you as well?

Now remember, we are having our Family Fun Flea Markets once a month now. So, if you missed attending or reserving your free booth space to sell your items, now is the time to call me and do so AT 615-464-7824. Next market is scheduled for Saturday, June 6th from 10 to 5. Free lunch again and lots of fun!

If you happen to have an interesting craft or extreme collectibles you can join us on a permanent basis inside the Barn. Call me at number above.
The Stillhouse Restaurant is opening it's doors on May 14th and will be open thus forward every Thursday through Sunday 12 to 9. And, the Local Table Magazine will be hosting it's first farm to table event at the Stillhouse on June 6th. They will be promoting their organic and local ingredients in the freshest of Southern dishes. Make your reservations now to enjoy what these folks have to offer. For reservations visit: stillhouserestaurant.com.
Hey, what is really great about what is happening in our neck of the woods is: when you want to bring friends and family to visit the Short Mountain Trading Post, they can also visit and tour the Short Mountain Distillery and then have lunch at the Stillhouse restaurant. You can spend the whole day with us at the Mountain. How great is that? We have such a good time and are so happy to see so many folks dropping by! We are open Thursday through Saturday from 10 to 5, so lots of time to enjoy yourselves and watch everyone have a great time!

Well, dear ole Uncle Festus is at it again. He got audited by the IRS for claiming his pets as dependents. He got fined for each one separately. Festus said, well, good thing my one dog went missing or I would have been fined even more. He had an ad in the paper for two months now: Lost Dog, blind, deaf, has one ear and 3 legs, answers to Lucky. (I told Festus, even though someone were to find Lucky, he's deaf and wouldn't hear them, he has no sight to get to them and three legs is not so speedy.) He agreed, but still had faith that Lucky would make it home again! He said that: even the tiniest force in the universe can be a shining star. That I agree with and I am hoping old doggy gets home! We all love animals in this family...and save as many as we can. How about you folks?

Aunt Martha just goes on with her thing. Still on the losing weight gig. She told Festus that if she was not to have midnight snacks, then why is there a light in the refrigerator? Her philosophy is the best way to prevent sagging, eat until the wrinkles fill out. So, he has a choice: a chubby wife with a nice fleshy complexion or a skinny wife with loose skin from eyebrows to chin and who can save money by getting a mammogram and pedicure at the same time! Festus knew the battle was lost and went on to another piece of news. Did you know that Hall & Oates is suing a cereal company for using the name: Haulin' Oats. Ok, well what about the music group suing a dairy company for Fleetwood Mac and Cheese. He wanted her to laugh in the worse way and she merely replied, don't you know that I have NCD? No Can Do. (She also claims that she hears voices in the Cornfield.) Cousin Clarence happened to get a spot on the television show that shouts out to folks that you have in the service. He said, I have a message for all my family and friends at the war in Iraq, R-U-N....

Ok everybody, don't forget our next flea market date of June 6th and visit our weekly Farmers' Market, even has the best beef jerky you have ever tasted!

Come out to see us and enjoy all we have to offer in the fun department! (We prefer those who have a black belt in shopping!)
Take care of yourselves and all your family and neighbors. Be happy for what you have and for the ability to do better. Chat with you next week.
Hugs, Savannah
