Three Arrested On Grand Jury Indictments

Three people have been arrested on indictments handed down by the Cannon County Grand Jury when it met on Sept. 25.

James G. Vanetta, unknown Cannon County address, is charged with felony possession of marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, felony possession of Schedule IV drugs, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vanetta remains in the Cannon County Jail under $25,000 bond. Assistant District Attorney David Puckett has filed a motion for a source hearing in the case to require Vanetta to prove the funds used to post or secure his bond did not come from proceeds directly or indirectly derived from a criminal offense.

Also under arrest are John Cummings, 25, 3040 McMinnville Hwy., and Toni Cummings, 33, 918 Pelham Rd. They are both charged with two counts each of selling a controlled substance (hydromorphone) within 1,000 feet of a park (Brown-Spurlock Park). They are also charged with maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for the purpose of selling a controlled substance.

Bond for each defendant is set at $40,000. Asst. D.A. Puckett has filed a motion for a source hearing in this case.

Vandetta and both the Cummings are scheduled to be arraigned in Cannon County Criminal Court Friday.
