announces new hours
Due to budget cuts imposed by the Cannon County Commission, the Solid Waste Department must reduce some services extended to the public. Starting Monday November 21st, the Cannon County Convenience Center will have new hours of operation.

The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and
accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. This is an on-going project. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles.
The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25 (best price
anywhere). This is our most popular flag. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen for special occasions. The military services/branches flags are $30 each. For that special display. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different

Music Night on Thursdays
The Pocahontas Community Center, located near Ivy Bluff, will be having a music night every Thursday at 5 p.m. We welcome all musicians who would like to come and play with our group, beginners or pros. Lions Club Pecan sale continues
The Woodbury Lions Club continues the annual Pecan Sale. For sale this year will be pecan halves, walnuts, fruit and nut mix and cashews.
All of these products will be available at the following locations: Jennings Jewelers, Vance Bros. Car lot, Farmers Co-op, the County Court Clerk's office, Cannon Senior Center, Dr. Trea Wessel's office, First Bank, Paul Reed's Furniture Store, First National Bank, Regions Bank, Woodbury Funeral Home, Woodson's Pharmacy, Cutting Edge Salon and from any Lions Club member.
Profits from this fund-raiser goes toward purchasing eye glasses, eye exam, eye surgeries, special equipment for the sight impaired, hearing exams, and hearing aids for local residents who cannot afford for pay for such on their own or with the help of their insurance.

The tree farm is open Monday through Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. From Woodbury, turn left onto Route 145/Auburntown Rd. (Piggly Wiggly on corner) Go 6.7 miles to first paved road on left. Turn left, you will see sign for Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm. First driveway on right is La Paloma Road.
Hayrides will be available on Saturdays until dark. We will also have hayrides on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after. Treehouse play area will be available until dark each day we are open

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

The Lion King JR. tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King JR. features classic songs from the 1994 film such as "Hakuna Matata" and the Academy Award®-winning "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.
Come prepared with 16 bars of a song in the musical theatre style, a pianist will be provided. Wear clothing appropriate for a simple dance audition.

Use Caution When Making Donations to Fire Victims

Nashville - In the wake of devastating wildfires in East Tennessee, Secretary of State Tre Hargett is urging people to use caution when trying to help fire victims.
"Tennesseans are among the most generous people in our country and I know that we will support our fellow Tennesseans in their hour of need. Please be diligent in giving to only reputable organizations so that we can best assist the people of Gatlinburg and Sevier County," said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. "Do not be pressured into giving cash donations to people that you don't know. Unfortunately, during disasters there are scam artists who prey on our generosity. However, I still encourage Tennesseans to be generous but smart about contributions so that we maximize recovery efforts."
Here are some tips to wise giving:
If a nonprofit asks you for a contribution, check to see if it's registered with the Division of Charitable Solicitations, Fantasy Sports and Gaming.
Take your time. Resist pressure to give on the spot.

Ask Questions. If an organization has a specific mission, ask how and who will benefit from your donation.

If you are asked for a donation via text or email, verify it is directly from the charity or nonprofit.

Do your own research and don't assume a social media or blog recommendation has been approved by the nonprofit.

If you give through an app or website, ask if it is going directly to the organization.
Avoid giving cash. Always ask for a receipt and if your contribution is tax deductible.
Pay close attention to the name of the nonprofit organization, as there are many with similar names.

"We will continue to pray for those who have lost so much during these devastating fires and for the people who are dedicated to providing tireless assistance and support during this recovery effort," Secretary Hargett said.
