Coats For Cannon
Coats of all sizes will be available to all Cannon County residents on Saturday November 19th from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Lion's Club Building located
on Lehman Street in Woodbury. These coats are free to anyone needing a warm coat, gloves and hats are also available in limited supply. Any Lions

The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and
accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. This is an on-going project. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles.
The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25 (best price
anywhere). This is our most popular flag. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen for special occasions. The military services/branches flags are $30 each. For that special display. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different

Music Night on Thursdays
The Pocahontas Community Center, located near Ivy Bluff, will be having a music night every Thursday at 5 p.m. We welcome all musicians who would like to come and play with our group, beginners or pros. Lions Club Pecan sale begins
The Woodbury Lions Club will kick off their annual Pecan Sale on November 3, 2016. For sale this year will be pecan halves, walnuts, fruit and nut mix and cashews.
All of these products will be available at the following locations: Jennings Jewelers, Vance Bros. Car lot, Farmers Co-op, the County Court Clerk's office, Cannon Senior Center, Dr. Trea Wessel's office, First Bank, Paul Reed's Furniture Store, First National Bank, Regions Bank, Woodbury Funeral Home, Woodson's Pharmacy, Cutting Edge Salon and from any Lions Club member.
Profits from this fund-raiser goes toward purchasing eye glasses, eye exam, eye surgeries, special equipment for the sight impaired, hearing exams, and hearing aids for local residents who cannot afford for pay for such on their own or with the help of their insurance.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the story of a an eccentric inventor named Caractacus Potts who, with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima, sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap. Soon, they discover the car has magical properties including the ability to float and take flight. However, trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. Performances run November 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 & 19 at 7:30 p.m. November 6 & 13 at 2 p.m. and November 5 at 10:30 a.m.

Cannon County Historical Society
Tuesday, November 8
The Cannon County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cannon County Senior Center, 309 Lehman Street, Woodbury in the small dining area.
Cannon-Rutherford Counties' Public Defender Gerald Melton will gave an account of "Pomp" Kersey and his Confederate band which was massacred at Half-Acre on Short Mountain on July 24, 1864 by a Union force operating out of Liberty.
The story of Hiram Taylor "Pomp" Kersey is one of the major Civil War encounters taking place in Cannon County.
Gerald and Marsha Melton reside at Half-Acre or Mechanicsville in the Short Mountain area. Their home is about one mile from the massacre scene and about a half-mile in the other direction from the Melton Cemetery where Pomp was buried.
Mr. Melton is a long-time student of the War Between the States, with particular interest in the Pomp Kersey story. His presentation will be of much interest to all Cannon Countians and Civil War buffs.
"We will meet at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments. The program will begin at 7 p.m. Come and bring your favorite "goodies" and snacks," said Joe Davenport, president.
"Bring someone with you! Every one is welcome, and please consider yourself a "special guest."
I am looking forward to seeing you on November 8th," Davenport said.

Saturday, November 12
The Stones River Chapter of Gold Star Wives, Inc. will meet Saturday, November 12, at 1 p.m. at the Alvin C York VA Hospital, 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro. Gold Star Wives is a national non-profit service organization. Anyone living in Nashville and the surrounding areas whose spouse died while serving on active duty, or of a service-connected cause, is welcome to join us. Warren County Arts & Crafts Fair
November 18-19
The Warren County Arts & Crafts Fair will be held November 18-19 at the McMinnville Civic Center. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Sneak-A-Peek will be held Thursday, November 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission for Sneak-A-Peek is $5 with all proceeds benefitting Relay for Life. Admission is free on Firday and Saturday.
